Really looks like the Roman amphitheatre, and definitely of coz there will be no any loser rite here. Cuz of we all have our own ideas or concerns or alternatives. It is really hard to make a final judgement who's rite or who's wrong. Even we are some kinda caring about the answer, the price is not so easily changed as what we want. Just as per someone said, we cannot get any appreciate from Meizu, even it is kind of support what we are doing rhite hir rhite now. So just buy it if you really like and can afford it, or leave it far away behind as long as you want.

I vote NO as for the current price in ebay for international buyers, you can get a used iPhone 3G for slight lower price.

Now the real question would be, is the M8 currently worth the asking price. When it was announced, there were features such as USB-OTG, front side camera, 3.5G, and a lot of things that weren't implemented in the final version. That still may not be worth the asking price, since the firmware is somewhat painful to maintain.

    no, and a BIG NO.

NO wifi? what are they smoking? I want some of that stuff.

    1) with the asking price of 500 shipped on ebay, that's steping into the high end phones

    2) high end phones include iphone (no dis on this one, it's a very high quality phone), HTC phones (dream, magic). Nokia (N95, 5800 ect...) And believe it or not, most of these dam phones are under 500, better spec, better features, and they have full blown warranty, customer support because they're huge corperations.

So my question is WHY should I buy this M8, I think the company should really really ask that question before producing a product and put a price tag on it. I understand that iphone might cost an arm and a leg outside of the US, but what about nokia? their market is everywhere and the 5800 is only freaking 350 last time I check.

He's not spreading "crappy wrong news"; the official M8 for China doesn't have WiFi. Period. Not there. On the other hand, perhaps he doesn't know that there are still "test" versions widely available that do have WiFi.

Last time I checked a Nokia 5800 was closer to $400 in the US and, in China, the official 5800 is $175 more than the M8...and it doesn't have WiFi either. For the umpteenth time, there is simply nothing on the market in China that matches the M8 when considering the price/hardware/features ratio. I live here. End of discussion.

But to answer your question: no, you shouldn't buy an M8 because you're obviously not convinced. My advice: wait to see what Meizu does with an international version (apparently it's coming) or wait for the the next gen (M9) later this year.

I think the 5800 has wifi

    spec:
    WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, UPnP technology

and I saw a deal a while ago that was about 360 + tax shipped from nokia themselves (dead now). So I'm thinking that it'll get reduce once the market is flood with them.

The nokia N95 8GB is about 400, and the N95 (older 1GB version) is 300 I think. but these are a little different as they don't have touch screen.

The HTC falls somewhere in the 300-500 range depending the the models.

I just can't justify the meizu for the price right now.

it used to be that the Meizu mp3 players were so cool because they were ahead of the market in terms of functions + price. Now they're behind the market AND with even higher price than the competators. Honestly, price is a very high selling points considering the market and the economy these days. They're not gonna be able to do well with a 500 dollars price tag for such a device.

It's not UK ready, that's for sure!

I've been silently following the roller-coaster M8 story, like many of you, for many months.

I saw the prototype board at Cebit Hanover 2008 and was impressed that a company so small could have produced something so ambitious. Just read the months of head scratching Apple's multiple engineers took getting over issues with the iPhones inception.

I bought it in the UK last week from Ebay for ~£320. I realised then that it was a lot of money for a beta phone, but really fancied testing it.

I've tried using it day-to-day, which has not been impossible, but issues with dropping the Orange network, and more recently declaring "no sim" have made it impractical - let alone having no answerphone alert.

Having said that, it was always going to be thus. I think people are taking for granted the fact that the actual phone itself works so well. The UI was never going to be ready - thanks to the fact that the whole of China Meizu practically forced it out before Christmas, even when it clearly wasn't ready.

This phone it essentially a marketing/testing excercise, so come the 3G version - the UI will be finished, bugs ironed out, applications matured and ready to push all over Asia and possibly foreign markets.

I don't think Meizu can afford to use the M8 as an excercise, they simply don't have the funds to pull such a stunt ... Also, if they keep improving the m8, it will eventually benefit any later released phones..

Mine's coming in anytime now. I realise that I'm some sort of 'beta-tester', but am prepared for that.

It's not worth the asking price as much as it was a few months ago, but it still is, from what I've read, a great phone for the price. It's just not what I'm looking for anymore. If I could get one for $300, I would buy it if it had Wi-Fi but like I said, it's not what I'm looking for.
