FYI: after crack no Wifi showed up in Final version of M8
Hi gents,
just to inform you I did try the latest version of M8cracker (1.0.0.2) on my Final version of M8 (hardware version is 1.0) and if I still see Bluetooth available, no Wifi at all.
so, if you want wifi, buy the Test version, if you don't care about the wifi, by the Final version.
Cheers,
Pierre

Still, maybe it's just hidden somehow. We won't know that until someone decides to take it apart

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsI thought that the M8 has a ONE SOLIDE CHIP for bluetooth, edge and wi-fi?
So if you see bluetooth, the others must be there to.....

True, but you would think that someone would have released a crack by now...or perhaps an updated version of M8cracker would have "magically" appeared from an "unknown" source on Meizu's forums.
I think WiFi is gone, period. I also have heard that the 850/1900 bands have been locked out by software on the official version, but that's another story...

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsFrom what i think, is that Meizu has made that M8Cracker. If somebody else made it, a new one should appear. But since Meizu dont want to get a conflict with the government(no wifi license) i think somebody elso needs to create a whole new M8Cracker.

If the M8Cracker has been made by a person that doesnt work for Meizu, and people know that person, only then would the final version would support wifi.
Maybe the chip is not completely soldered to the M8, so the wifi can not be activated. But from what i think, wifi is crack-able on the final version

Thanked 1,024 Times in 375 PostsIt has always been hardware version 1.0, so that has nothing to do with being an official version or not.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsRico, everybody has hardware version 1.0 i have a test unit bought nearly 2 months ago and its 1.0.
Does the back of your phone (battery compartment have the blue Chinese network sticker) if yes, then you have the official version, if not you have the test version.
Same question for Pierre...
Blue Sticker = official version = no wifi, we can put the topic to rest.
Now the people who are diehard on meizu fans will argue whether it is software or hardware related, but doesn't really matter unless you want to buy the phone immediately, and if you do, test versions are still in the market to the best of my knowledge.
Most of the fw development including the bug fixes and bug reporting whether in chinese or english is being done on the test version hardware, so there should be no issue with compatability of future fws.
Pierre may have had his reasons for buying the 'official' release but there is no viable reason to do so currently.

@ anxiousone:
Yes, I do have the blue sticker inside (I did asked for a Final official version in the Meizu shop).
@ AlexNesterov:
here is my personal reupload of the M8 Cracker I used (can't find the original link, but it was posted in this board).

if WiFi is removed from the final version will future fw allow owners of the M8 test version to use WiFi? Or there again we have to bet on a M8 cracker update?
-

You will have to bet on an M8 cracker update, Wi-Fi was never officially supported by Meizu.

but when you crack it on a test version the wifi option in settings menu seems well integrated in the OS (icon, switches...).
From my point of view it means that this WiFi menu has always been present in MEIZU OS but hidden until you crack it...

Test M8 - Hardware version 1.0
Offic M8 - Hardware version 1.0
No difference...
In other words, all that is in the test version, there is also the official.
You do not think?
