Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostDoesn't work for me
I have an M8 and I cannot use it because I cannot change the language to English using the instructions provided by this forum.
I have got to the part of the settings menu where you can choose between English and Chinese.
I select English and a blue dot appears next to it then nothing happens.
I have tried to turn the phone off and on again in order to save the new setings but everything is still in Chinese. What exactly
does 'reset' mean anyway? And why does the screenshot above show Chinese selected as the language?Last edited by Motorcycleboy; 11-02-2009 at 10:20 AM. Reason: Formatting

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostHere's how it is done
Thanks to AlexNesterov it is possible to loacalize about 80% of the language in the OS programs and message boxes. Here are his instructions:
If you want, you can download this archive with cab-installer http://www.filehoster.ru/files/cm9664. It can translate most of the system applications and messages in English.
Just copy the cab to M8 (folder \Disk), run it and then restart the phone.
To check the changes run Windows\control.exe
These mui-files taken from CEnet4.2 and packaged in cab-installer.
I believe that the self extracting cab file must be copied using the Windows Explorer inside the M8, which is all in Chinese of course, and the language must first be set to Chinese in the settings/language menu. Restart and choose English.
I have not done this myself as without an English user manual I cannot work out how to launch programs and copy files within the M8 file system explorer.Last edited by Motorcycleboy; 11-11-2009 at 08:24 AM.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostAt last - Success!
The instructions given by honeynut are incorrect and have led me to be tearing my hair out in frustration for the last few days. After selecting English in the settings language options DO NOT restart the phone. Instead hold down the power button for five seconds and then select the middle option in the dialgue box that appears. The screen then goes blank and the Meizu logo appears for a few seconds. Once the animated logo dissapears restart the phone. Here is a thread showing how it should be done properly using screenshots as a guide: HELP! I dont know how to change the language to english
The fact that I had installed the system mui files fro Windows CE may have contributed to my success.
