Finally, I see a cellphone that can compare with iPhone, but when I check the band, it only 1800 and 900? US uses 1900 and 850. Are there 2 types of model?

There is only one type of M8. But don't worry, the M8 is quadband. We have some members here who have their M8's working on US networks.

Yep! bbmak, Meizu has to market the phone as dual-band or it'll get in trouble. It's a quad-band phone though and like Blah said, some people in the states are already using the phone. I'm glad you think it can compare with the iPhone, but some of us here think it'll actually be better than Apple's product. The official retail version has not been released yet, so the M8 devices that people have right now are test versions.

There is always the possibility that the production M8 ends up being dual band. The vast majority of handsets sold by domestic manufacturers are dual band while the big foreign brands are typically tri- and quad band (although some made exclusively for the China market are dual band as well). Foreign manufacturers do operate under slightly different rules, though; for example, having to export the majority of their China-based production in exchange for market access. Even that hasn't helped slow the domestic manufacturers' steady slide into near-irrelevancy. I mean, regulators aren't complete idiots and the license was granted for a dual band phone, so unless there's some tacit understanding or a deal has been cut the possibility does exist until the (supposed) press conference later this month presumably finalizes all the details.
