Internet Connection and other probs

Hey, i just got the m8 yesterday - so im kind of new to this whole thing.

So it would be awsome if someone would mind helping me out on some problems.

I havent changed anything on the internet settings, but unfortunaetly it wont work from the start. So what do i need to do? ...to change?

Secondly, i installed a programm which i now discovered doesnt help me alot cause its in chinese. So how do i get rid of it, where do i uninstall programms?

How can i rearange the desktop icons?

Do Ipod Apps work on the m8?

Is fw 0.9.0.1 the newes? i came through some different mentioning in other posts, but couldnt really find any download for that...

This edge programm to unlock wireless, does it work on 0.9.0.1? could maybe someone post a link - if necessary in the app needs to be english

is there any software to access and enter details like email contacts, edit phone contacts and all that stuff? basically to rework the data over the computer?

okay, found the cracker now myself, BUT how do i turn the wifi on now? could you at least help me with that one?! would be gread

and how about pc software?

Do you know if there is any possibility to get it connected with itunes as the iphone can?

Don't mean to be rude, but i really think you should take the M8 back to where you bought it and ask VERY politely if they will take it back and return some of your money.

How to move icons

Simply press and hold any icon until a box appears around iut. You can then move any icon to where ever you like. To exit this mode, press the M button once.

You can use 'Active Syne' which comes on the software cd you get with the phone.

but actually one problem is still left, and no cant find a matching post to that one,

how is it with the internet connection? im with china mobil, so do i maybe need to change some proxy settings or ports?

Ah I am also with China mobile and that one took me quite a while to figure out.

Post me up your settings for your gmail account.... Don't post up your real email or password, for obvious reasons. This is just to make sure you have everything right. But the main thing you need to change to get it working is actually not in that section. Do the following:

SETTINGS > EDGE > CLICK ON APN > CHANGE THE TEXT FROM CMWAP to CMNET

Those 3 letters almost made me throw my phone against the wall. It was so simple but yet so not obvious. Anyway that should fix it for you. Remember to turn Edge on though ha ha, or wifi if you have a home wifi set-up available.

What internet settings are we talking about? WiFi or EDGE?

If EDGE, why not contact your operator for settings?

so still couldnt get it to work,
email settings are as follows:

adress: test@gmail.com
incoming: pop.gmail.com
outgoing: smtp.gmail.com
username: test
ssl turned on so ports are 995 and 465

the message i get is username or password invalid... but as said, the details are definately correct.

i tried your suggestion with changing edge to CMNET, but now i get a networkproblem on the browserwindow. With CMWAP i get the failure "could not locate remote server"...

any opinions on that one? and yeah i turned it on before i tried

incoming should read:

smtp.gmail.com

and outgoing then beeing pop?
seems weired because if i access via outlook or some email programm from the pc its incoming pop and outgoing smtp...

what is your entry on the proxy ip? do you use the standard so 10.0.0.172 port 80?

both incoming and outgoing have to be smtp

I cant get my wifi to work..
i cracked it, found the wifi network, logged into it, i get full reception but when i try to open a webpage on the browser it gives me: error-webpage is currently unavailable ,- or somethin like that..

does anybody know what i can do to get into the internet?

Actually, this is happening to me to... the built-in browser won't go to any webpage, i was going to post this on the bugs thread after a bit more tries.

My opera browser from the desktop does not work anymore (since i upgraded to fw 0.9.0.1) but if i go to the windows directory of my phone, click on explorer.exe and goto 'view> address bar' and then type in a web address i can get to that website... try the same, and let me know if it works.

Then it means something is off with the opera browser, but not the wifi.
