Home made M8 dock!
So, it all started with me wanting some kind of docking station for my M8, but I wanted to make it without buying anything. I have several mini-usb cables laying around so that was no problem, but how and what to make the docking station out of was the tricky part.
I searched around for some kind of small box witch I could mod the cable in to, but instead I found something much better!
This is what I'm going to use to make the dock! Except for the two empty DV-cases, they weren't used.

Since the lamp I found had a small switch on it, I tought I could use it to decide if I want to only charge my M8, or connect it to my comp.

I had a really hard time to try and peel the outer plastic of the USB-cable. But after carefully cutting small pieces at a time with a knife I managed to get a clean part.
Next is soldering the wires from the switch together with the USB-cable. I cut the green wire from the usb-cable since it's tha "Data +" wire.

After soldering the wires i tested the cable and switch with and Ipod-shuffle clone I bought a while back, everything worked just fine

Now I had to place everything back together with the black base part from the lamp. It was a tight fit, but I did it!

Did you notice the round "glass-shild" on the lamp? Well I did, and figured that I could use it as a base to support the dock so it wouldn't tip over that easy.

I used my best friend "Mr SuperGlue" and glued all the pieces together.

Then I glued the mini-usb connector to the back of the "stand". I hade to use small pieces of plastic to make a distance from the stand (oh wait, I DID use the DV-cases after all!)

Well, that's it! I'm done! These pictures shows my M8 connected to the stand. When the switch it in "off" position I only charge the phone, but then I just flip the switch to "on" and *BING!*, Windows detects a new device

Notice the position of the switch (sorry about the flash in these):

Well, thats all for me for this time!
Thank you for reading, and I hope this inspired some of you to make your own M8 docking station

That is just awesome. The way you incorporated the switch into it was pure genious. I love it. Being able to switch it from charging to an active mass storage device with the switch is what really make it, in my opinion. Great work
