Thanked 14 Times in 10 Postslol, nice idea for a thread.
well, i havnt got one yet, but i have been showing the vids and decribing the specs to my friends in shanghai. Problem is, alot of them are rich kids and dont seem to trust 'iPhone clones' (even though it isnt one anymore) but others take time to watch the vids, but quite a few of them say that they see alot of similarities with the iPhone, but find the price very good.
I'm only sad that i dont think i have convinced anyone to actually buy the phone, either they are sceptic about the made (and designed) in china tag that will come with the meizu m8, or some of them have iPods, iPhones, iPod Touches, (or all three, i swear some dude does) and are full Steve Jobists. (or Applists, whichever one is catchier)
It might be that i am not quite the perfect salesman, but i am interested to hear how other people are getting along with their meizu and how many other people they have (or have not) impressed.
PS: I am NOT a rich kid. I have rich kid friends because i go to a rich kid school. QUite a lot of nice kids. But they are rich. I dont pay for school fees because my parents both happen to be teachers there, so i dont have to pay school fees. As i have earlier stated, i have been saving Pocket Money for a very long time now.

My friend wants one because the speakers are better than the ones on his laptop. Too bad Meizu won't launch it globally.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Just yester day, my father cought the sent of me looking at the M8, as being a very conservative mann, he freaked out and said that one could not trust a chinese phone maker, and that its not ligitimate since it hasnt been really launched yet.
Just had to remind him of the fact that most of our branded phones are produced in china, and show him some official websites, then he wondered of looking at the Meizu website on his laptop

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI showed some videos to my friends and my brother. My brother knows enough about Meizu. He was who told me to buy a M6 and he was surprised when he saw the videos. We two want to buy one, but we don't know if we should wait for next generation or try to get one with wifi.
My friends, when they saw it, told me that was very similar to the iPhone, but the price...for them it was a bargain.

You should understand that acquiring an M8 - even inside of China, right now is a very hard thing to do.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAs a whole i think the phone is a good effort (not worth 200 million RMB R&D as reported though), but it is a let down for me. i think anyone who uses the phone and is not in China and a native Chinese speaker would feel let down. No matter how die hard a fan you are, you can smile and put a good face on it, but it doesn't change facts.
I had convinced people i know that this phone from China is going to be different, and ofcourse they notice this is no cheap knock-off, but it isn't a phone that can be used with ease by foriegners outside of China.
In this statement i am not pointing out a failing of Meizu per se, since they didn't launch the phone outside of china, its just an opinion of someone who owns the phone outside of china and doesn't speak or read chinese.
Let me also qualify my remarks about not believing the phone is worth 200million RMB in R&D: i was in California (and involved) in the Dot.com boom and bust, so i know a bit about funding and burn rates... no way could those figures be true... because if they were JW or whoever owns Meizu would have been taken for a ride... I also know Chinese business men btw
so i can safely base my remarks.

The M8 is really for those who have technological background and can troubleshoot errors by themselves, fixing problems on any Meizu device isn't very user friendly.

By that, I mean that you need to be able to easily use DFU tools to repair a failing M6, or use Resource Hacker to fix a glitch, etc.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDon't get me wrong, i know what you mean... but i don't think its too much to ask from a consumer goods company to stand by their product.
Hobbies and personal interests aside; if you pay good money to a company for a product and it doesn't work and you have to fix it for yourself then that company needs to be held accountable in the court of public opinon. IMHO.

if your in china, its not that really hard to get, all it takes perserverance, go to cellphone/electronics shop on your free time and weekends, and at the meizu booth list your name for reservation.... that's what i did last 3 weeks ago, and i able to get mine a week after... even bought 3 units , for me and 2 other friends.
