Congratulations, M8 finally getting network license 15/01/09

Congratulations J.Wong and Meizu finally m8 getting Network access license on yesterday.

Great news! Congratulations Meizu!

So finally the M8 can be sold officialy! Can't wait to see the userbase starting to grow like it should! It's a shame this had to be at the cost of losing WiFi...
Now the M8 just needs to be very successful so that we can see an international version sometime :P

Any news on the release date for the official M8?

I took a look at the Chinese BBS, and I found this post. It's not written by JW, but since the writer is an administrator I assume he also counts as an official source.

Also, the image is uploaded on TENAA's servers - so it should be valid.

That's great; hopefully we can get the phone in the hands of more experienced developers and start sorting out the many bugs that exist with the M8.

After having owned the M8, i must warn the average user that the M8 in its current form is IMHO a beta product.

Wifi on the demo units is really crappy, this is owing to either fw issues or something to do with the antenna/signal strength.

True, I hope this will also lead to a faster development of firmware to fix the bugs for the official launch coming soon.

i'm wondering if anyone here has an idea about how much demo/test/beta units of the M8 have been produced by Meizu? sorry if this is off topic.

M8 is already wifi capable. You just have to unlock it using a software called "cracker"

Only pre-production test units are equipped with WiFi, unfortunately. It's very likely that the official version lacks the wifi module.

It does lack wifi. They had to take the WIFI chip out in order to get the network license.

Fortunately, I got the pre-production one..
