Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostM8 news 2009.01.09
1. An official theme manager application seems to be out for the M8: original thread
2. cnbeta.com has published a news article stating that Meizu has finally received their phone network license. I'm not sure how trustworthy this information is, but there's a thread on the Meizu BBS asking JW for confirmation, and fans are using it to congratulate Meizu: original thread
3. Finally, I'm not completely sure about this one due to the unclear Google translation, but it looks like things are shaping up for a future negotiation between Meizu and REAL regarding the long awaited RMVB format support: original thread
If someone that actually understands Chinese could clarify these infos, it would be greatly appreciated
Cheers,

I heard that Jack finally confirmed that there was to be no WiFi on final versions. Have you seen this?
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

You never know, specifications might be changed anytime.
Guys, please don't go on a flame rampage about this, it might not be final.

Thanked 34 Times in 21 Postsi only saw a thread about fans asking if the price will be lower without wifi, and JW said that he 's not planning to lower the price, since the wifi module only costs a few dollars.
thought it's not explicitly there, but i'm guessing it is the funeral of the wifi in this (official) version

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostI'm looking at the recent threads on the Chinese BBS right now, and can't see any indication of this... I would suppose there would be a huge thread about it if it were official.
Here's a google translated link for the BBS main page if anyone wants to have a look.

@ 3 - I think it's an employee of Real Networks China who wrote the email - asking Jack to cooperate and purchase the license for M8.
@ ^ - waja2000 told me over MSN that it caused a huge rampage on the BBS. Maybe it's been cleaned up? Anyway, he didn't post it because he is ashamed of his English skills. Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 34 Times in 21 Poststhis thread was about the hardware of the 4th pack of test models (they sent them to retail stores in packs. 3 packs went out until early january, and the 4th just recently). and fans were making guesses why some stuff changed, and aked JW about that.
then he replied that there was no change in the hardware since the first test models hit the market in december.
but this doesn't say anything about the official and final models, nor the license.略懂

@ MiDeCo - Interesting. Let's hope that they only "officially" release it without WiFi and leave it to the user to unlock the feature like before.
On a side note, it's pretty liberal of the forum to accept posts containing "a a a aaaa" and "ding".
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 14 Times in 10 Postswifi or 3G is ESSENTIAL if meizu want a marketable product, or even an iPhone killer. They will lose alot of customers if they have no wifi on the phone. It would be one of the only so called 'smart phones' without internet access. and am i right that the m8 license business had nothing to do with wifi, right? Just something with the Meizu logo on the Main Menu button, right?
@ Err0r: U still havnt changed my username yet. dont mean to be a bore, but if youre not to busy, change it plz
THANKS

Thanked 34 Times in 21 Postsyeah, google translations are really mixed up sometimes. i don't really like it. no wonder they still can't use machines to translate stuff
actually, i could've posted that piece of news earlier, but i thought it's not that interesting how many packages of M8-s came out, and so on.略懂

Thanked 91 Times in 32 Posts原帖由 J.Wong 于 2009-1-8 21:26 发表

正式销售版与测试版的唯一不同就是有入网许可证和没有WLAN模块
Official version differences with public testing version only is having Network license sticker and without WLAN module
原帖由 J.Wong 于 2009-1-8 21:41 发表
楼上王八,不是有测试版供选择吗,非要选择正式销售版当然就没wlan啦
your can choose those public test version, if really wanted official version offcouse without WLANLast edited by waja2000; 01-08-2009 at 11:37 PM.

man, that is the worst news i've heard all year. I can't believe it. After waiting over a year and half.......this is what the M8 has become. A sad joke. Devastating. I feel really let down almost cheated.
I can't even take this phone seriously anymore. A multimedia smartphone with no internet?. Unf**kingbelievable.
The M8 cannot compete with the iphone, and cannot be considered a smart phone anymore.
R.I.P M8, wish I hadn't wasted so much time on you.Last edited by sere83; 01-09-2009 at 12:25 AM.

I'm still keeping my promise until March. If things don't get better I may either get an iPod touch or Samsung YP-P2 with a newer phone.

BTW, I think waja left something out of the translation...Did Jack Wong really call that guy a 王八 ?? That's "son of a b*tch" for anyone not familiar with that charming Chinese euphemism. His nerves must really be fraying over all this.

. It's a little bit confusing with google translations and those dates. Thanks for explaining.
