    Many pictures of M8

By a contact that I have in china, here's a link where is possible viewing a couple of photos about M8

    ????? ?????M8????? [????] IT.com.cn IT???-?????IT??.

And here, what I got by this contact about situation fo m8 in China:

"here's what i've known about Meizu M8 cellphone.

it's made buy a company called Meizu, which is a chinese company (i guess not very big) from a city in the south from 2003. they make portable media players, mp3, mp4, etc, and M8 is their first cellphone product.

as i told you yesterday, there're many chinese companies/factories making so called "village ganster" cellphones. they generally just copy the appearance of a famous brand's product, and add in whatever functions they like. well, usually that means they can produce a very cool-looking phone with all kinds of useful or useless functions. of course, this kind of "village ganster" cellphone is very cheap.

so let's say M8 is one of the top products among the "village ganster" phones. it copies a lot from iphone, from the look to the operational interface. but it's not as delicated as iphone for sure. till now it hasn't got the permission for entering the telecommunication net, because of some trademark issues. the company released 500 phones for testing in August or September. besides, if you buy a Meizu portable media player, you can also get a 100 yuan coupon for buying M8, and the expiration date of the coupon is Feb 28th, 2009. many people are doubting if M8 will really be on market before the end of february. when they gave out the test phones, people applied for them needed to pay 2008 yuan as deposit. there're also some sellers online selling it now. so i guess the price for a 8G M8 will be around 2000 yuan.

    there're already many articles on the test results of M8. for example: ????? ?????M8????? [????] IT.com.cn IT???-?????IT??."

btw, isn't cool that the handsign used for the number 8 in China is the same as making a gun by extending your thumb and index finger.

actually Gianluca hasn't posted anything new, and some of his informations are not too accurate.
Meizu don't produce shanzhai ("village gangster") phones, they have their own portfolio, although a small one, since it's a smaller company. but that doesn't mean they can't be high quality. what they had achieved with developing the M8, even bigger companies (like HTC or Samsung) have failed to achieve so far. a smooth and fast GUI is what all competitor phones lack at this time (maybe except for the G1 android, which can only be bought from Tmobile, so not that good deal, and of course iphone). and that alone does mean something. the price of the M8 is not "around 2000rmb", it is exactly 2380rmb for the 8G version, and will be 2880rmb for the 16G version. not to mention that it can only be purchased in the Meizu official dealer shop (anybody selling online has also bought it from there). the fact that Meizu has been unable to get the license has absolutely nothing to do with similarities to apple's product, they only have(or had) some problems with the "M" logo on the button of the phone, and the Wifi support. and this is in connection with the government's decision on network activation rules. (btw, the iphone also didn't get a green light in China, so does that make it a shanzhai model then? )

JW said on the BBS today, that they will go to Beijing again next week, and hopefull will come back with the license finally. and also (though no connection to this topic) they will release an M8 version of MSN before the end of january.

now that 3G is legal, doesnt that mean that the meizu can put 3G on. That would WOULD be GANGSTA. (pardon my uncool attempt at coolness)

He has a high rep because he helps people with lengthy translations and discussion.

You have a low rep because you fail to show basic forum ethics. Taking threads off topic (like now), adding 1-2 word comments and triple posting (like now).
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

not much said about it on the BBS yet. there was a guy, who already started developing an own MSN client for the M8, then he was angry about Meizu releasing their own, cause he worked for nothing. we'll see at the end of january i guess (if not sooner)

Haha! But if his version is prettier/more practical than Meizu's people will still use his. Plus it's not a bad thing to have choices.
