    M8 problem!!

I just found that in very cold condition (like in Dalian China right now)
my m8 always shut down itself. For example, today I went outside and the weather was about -5 my m8 shut down may be like 10 times and everytime I had to wait at lease 5 mins(in warmer place) to restart it.

I asked Meizu store about it and they told me that because I updated firmware to 0.8.0.1 which is not that good right now. Actually, I don't think it's a software problem. It might because of battery or somethings.

This is a very serious problem for me, because it's nonsense that I can't use my cellphone when I stay outside buildings. Is it worth my 2380rmb?

    Hm....cold-issues caused by firmware?

Theoritically....it might be possible. If the m8-firmware contains certain safety features that reads out sensors on machanical parts and, for example, turns itself off when not in a safe sensor-range...then yes. :P It's a really, really long shot though.

My guess is this beta hardware lives up to it's name. Probably a part that can't stand the cold that well. Meizu'd probably fix it before final release

For beta-owners, yeah, it sucks in winter.

The issue has been conveyed to one of their engineers. I'll come back with an answer the moment I have one.

I haven't come across this problem myself, but then we seldom have such low temperatures here.

    Hi all,

One of Meizu's engineers has replied to the report. Here it is:

(Improper shutting down under below -5 degrees Centigrade conditions) has never occurred during our lab testing. Nor has it happened during our test in Northern parts of China (Harrbin). The issue has been brought to the attention of our hardware engineers. We suspect it might be peculiar to this individual unit.

    **

I hope Ericaa will contact me here and inform me of your personal contact files so that communication will be easier between you and Meizuers.

Also, you can trust me that Meizu values all users' feedback no matter where he/she's from.

I will be back again as long as I have any updates.

    Thank you for your support,

    Sincerely,

    Pan.

    Hi all,

    Update:

Meizu's hardware engineer also responded by saying that this hardly makes any sense. But since it seems to be the case, we need more information about the improper crash. Is the problem reoccurring or is it just gone?

    Thanks,

    Pan.

As I told you if they don't know yet what's wrong, they can keep my phone to find out and give me a new one.

sounds like a warranty issue... Erica, did you send the phone to Meizu or return it to the reseller from whom you purchased? I'm sure you won't get onsite next business day support like Dell (i say that because they actually saved my skin once in a country where i didn't think it would work, and was very much appreciated), but in any case warranty response from Meizu would be good to know.

Also Pan, thanks for your liason, what would be great if you could give us more insight into the Wifi/no wifi issue and more importantly ship date for additional 'demo' units; i have been told that the Shenzhen reseller is expecting a shipment by the 11th, can anyone from Meizu confirm?

after I found the problem, I think it's not a software problem because I tried every firmwares I have but the problem still occurred. I decided to send it back to Meizu to fix it but I'm not in Dalian right now (I came to Beijing on 30 december) and I have to go back to Thailand within a few days. Meizu Beijing branch told me that they can't fix it and need to send it to Meizu Guangdong. So, it might not be done before I go home. because of this, I asked them that if it's possible to change a new one for me. As you know, they can't do that, they will change a new one in case that they can't fix it. So, it's might be too late.
I sent a pm to Pan to let him know what happen because it's might help they find out what's wrong easily. This is my pm

    "Hi
I'm m8 user that my device has problem when stay in cold temperature.I have infomations I think you may want to know. My m8 really gets worse right now
    1. It can"t be opened even in room temperature in Beijing(I'm now in Beijing)
    2. I can use it sometimes when I put it close to a heater(nuanqi).
    3. I already tried many firmwares such as 0.7.0.1, 0.8.0.0 or 0.8.0.1. Doesn't work, the ploblems still appear.

I already sent my device to meizu Beijing branch but as you know I'm not Chinese, so it's really to comunicate with the service assistant. She told me she can't fix it and she has to send it back to meizu in Guangdong.

The ploblem is I have to go back to Thailand on 9 January 2009 and she told me on that day my device
might not be ready for me.I want to ask you if it possible that Meizu will change a new phone for me and keep my phone to study what happen? In other case if they can fix it on time canyou tell them that I can't wait too long if they get it can they fix it and send it back to Beijing as soon as possible.

It will be really grateful for that if you help me to inform these to Meizu because I sent an email to Meizu but no reply.
Thank you much for your help"

    It was my pleasure.

I hate to say I don't know much more than you do if you regularly visit Meizu Official BBS. It's obvious that Meizu wishes to keep WIFI on the final version, but as many of you know, WIFI is not allowed on cellphones for some goddamn nobody-knows-where-it-comes-from and nobody-knows-why policy. You ignore the rule and hit the market without a lisence, and you go ShanZhai. But it's not the way Meizu has chosen.

The simple truth here right now is that all the publich-test units are equipped with WIFI.

I have no idea concerning any shipment issues, sorry. I wish I did.

    Sincerely,

    Pan.

thanks again, sorry for being off topic on this one, but i guess what we all are wondering is how long will Meizu keep selling the public test units? Doesn't seem like additional units have come on the market; i think i read somewhere that only 500 odd units are in the market... could be that they only had that many built in the frst run, and are now back at the drawing board with the licensing problems...
