8.00PM
for who wanted M8, buy those M8 test version ASAP, J.Wong just announce Official version M8 is without WLAN hardware, after several month try hard to getting license JWong failed to getting license, they have to take out wlan module in order getting license. other think he said will facing a lot problem if continue sell those test unit. his company most likely will facing law and financial problem. and he will sell m8 WLAN module after WAPI (china WLAN standard) is support by current WLAN module..
Act fast ..... if not wait for other 3~4 month to getting m8......Last edited by waja2000; 12-26-2008 at 03:58 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsyes, this is the final nail in the m8' coffin (which was quite well closed already) for me.
Pity really, the form factor and screen resolution of the m8 were perfect, and the WinCE-based OS could have been nice...
The most unfortunate thing is that m8 could have been a blow to traditional smartphone makers if it was available outside china and had some success: it would have forced other constructor to lower price and would have increased competition.
I will keep an eye on the new WinMo and android models coming out in 2009, at least it now seems that VGA+ resolution is becoming standard on all high or mid ends smartphones - at least...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYea, I'll probably buy the second version of the M8. The phone isnt't that bad but I can't afford it right now, so if I buy one then (a couple of weeks) it'll probably have no WiFi. For now good bye

ha ha and i got an m8 today. but it is in china.
I am not quite sure about what this means either though. One second waja says they will have to take the wifi module out. The next the licence has been granted. Do they still have to take the module out?

Yes, they only registered the two bands that are listed on their website, as far as I know.

I'm still only waiting until the maximum of March 2009*, so Meizu better fix their game.

Thanked 26 Times in 5 PostsI think the license issue may force MEIZU to export M8, because your westerners need WiFi, and there isn't any law that stops M8 from equipting WiFi.
So there may be official exporting then. No need to be too worry about WiFi.

The chinese government would allow them to produce M8 with the WiFi (uncracked maybe) and export them but not to use in their own country? That's just so stupid...
Even if they decide to export the M8 to whereever I think this will take some time again =(
The European market is in my opinion too big for MEIZU. And also the European testers won't be nice. They would mark every single fault in the M8 and spread it out... I don't think the M8 can hold on with the other touch-screen phones here around with that many bugs. The only thing that would be good is the price...
Honestly I think this would be an too large step. MEIZU is used to sell their products in the own MEIZU-Stores... but they don't exist here. So they need trading-partner like amazon... this would take some time, tought.

Actually, if I can find a iPod touch on sale for this boxing day I'll buy one. I give up. M6 still going to be used though. iPod's mostly for web and apps.
