Any News On The Mobile Phone License?
This is all well and good seeing all these photos/videos and reviews of the M8 but the fact remains we still have no proper release date! There has been no news of whether Meizu have even managed to get a mobile phone license yet and no sign of any M8's becoming available to online retailers who ship outside of China. It's all a bit frusrating really.
After waiting for so long it seems that prospective foreign customers are in the dark again. It's just starting to get a bit annoying seeing all this info yet knowing we still can't even get a hold of one. Like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey then snatching it away when he tries to munch it! hahaha.
Any one visited the Chinese BBS lately, any word from Wong?

Just took a look. He hasn't written an opening post since the 14th. You would expect this kind of news to be on the first page.

Thanked 26 Times in 5 PostsNo any news yet.
In fact, if MEIZU wanna get this license, it must provide the trademark of every elements on the phone. Now MEIZU doesn't have the M logo registered, so the license is no where to see.
That M logo have passed the registering progress and now is shown to the public. If there isn't any negative within 3 months, the trademark will be given.

Thanked 26 Times in 5 PostsHmmm...That's only a rumor, I heard many kind of reason, one is about the M logo, and others is about the WiFi.
I've not checked it but I heard someone said the M logo have passed the 3 months' public period at the end of Nov., while others said that was just the beginning of the period. I don't know what's true... And there is another rumor says J.Wong refuse to remove the WiFi support in the M8s going to be release in China, so he decided to add the WAPI support to make M8's WiFi legal in China Mainland. But in fact I think no one knows the real reason why M8 still can't get the license ---- expect J.Wong, however he decided to say nothing.
No license means no official release, but the mass public testing will go on with no amount limit. Anyway there isn't any such kind of license outside China, and whether or no there will be many people trying to "export" M8 to you westerners, as long as you still want it. I think no need to worry too much about it.

I don't know what to say about the trademark management department of China...
Just look at this site:
http://sbcx.saic.gov.cn/trade/servle...ls=9&iYeCode=0
I see MEIZU have applicated the M logo at 2005/12/31 ---- nearly THREE YEARS AGO! And the public shown date is ... 2008/12/20.
What the hell is the government's efficiency? How come can they delay this application for almost 3 years? I really want to say the F-word.Last edited by fineday; 12-22-2008 at 07:34 PM.

Thanked 29 Times in 16 PostsJW said it just 2 days ago that he will not remove the wifi, and instead get the wapi support done. if it can't be done like that, then the M8 might not see an official release at all. dunno why he keeps bringing up more and more difficulties. it is starting to seem like they are delyaing the official release on urpose, and there's something totally different behind the scenes. but that's just a hunch.
anyway, if this phone doesn't come out before the OPhone and the (rumored) new Touch HD like android phone from HTC, then it will stand little chance even inside of China. the reason why it still can enter an almost empty market is because there's no ip officially there. but the other 2 phones will be available for sure, and android is really making a run for it in these regions.
it shall be interesting i think.略懂
