    Let's write a FAQ

I think it might be worth it to write a FAQ. Post some questions we get all the time and appropriate answers in this thread.

    Does the M8 have 3G?

No. It has EDGE support which sometimes is referred to as 2.75G.

Good idea to update the FAQ with questions about M8, but too bad nobody reads it... New users usually just open up a new thread
    Let's try tough:

    - Does the M8 have Wifi?

Yes, but it's hidden by software, and you have to activate it for yourself.

Will the M8 be sold in my country?

The M8 will not be officially distributed outside China (including HK, Macao and Taiwan). This does not mean however that it is impossible for you to get one. There will most certainly be many online retailers selling to your country.

Can I run Windows Mobile apps on the M8?

As a general rule, no. Windows Mobile (up to the future version 7?) is designed to run on Windows CE 5. The M8 is running a propriety OS called Meizu OS on top of Windows CE 6.0. Most applications can not run on the M8 unmodified, some do though and the list is expected to grow when the M8 SDK (software develepment kit) is released by Meizu.

What apps are there for the M8?

Among the apps that have been confirmed to run on the M8 is Foxit PDF reader and
    Softmaker Office 2008.

Will there be more apps in the future?
Definitely. Meizu has announced an official M8 software store. But as the M8 is not locked down the way an iPhone is there is nothing stopping developers to release software on there own. Hopefully many applications designed for Windows Mobile can easily be modified to run on the M8 when the M8 SDK is released by Meizu.

I found this store online selling M8s, is it for real?

It's highly doubtful this company has any stock to sell. First, Meizu shops in China can't even get enough M8s to supply their customers and long wait lists are common. Second, the phone is still in a "test phase" because Meizu doesn't even have their network access license; all buyers are being asked to sign a contract that they agree to this. Third, Jack Wong has stated Meizu will not allow web sales of the M8 for now, only Meizu shops.

Does the M8 really support quadband? The official specs is GSM 900/1800 Mhz.

Yes, the official specs state 900/1800 Mhz but this is because Meizu is only applying for these two bands in their Chinese network license. M8 supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz.

I think you should just collect the questions in one of your post. Easier to collect them
