Why is there a need for a protective film for the back?

Wow, this is a reflective screen protector... Just made it more shiny...

I asked somewhere about the scratch resistance of the M8 screen (as opposed to the Iphone which can take being mangled with a knife and whatnot). Is there really a need to protect the glass with a protective film, or is it overkill?

I was talking with a tester and he said the screen is very scratch-resistant. I don't think the screen protector is really that neccessary. Also JW said a few months ago that the M8's screen is almost as tough as the iphone's

Aha! Very interesting, thanks for the info. The M6 actually has some sort of protective film on it to begin with, maybe it's the same with the M8. Or maybe the M8 screen is simply made of some sort of super glass

Lol, everything can scratch. Before I had my iPhone, I scratched the iTouch by miraculous means. Grain of sand is the great killer here.

That's why I'm using a cheap screenprotector on my iPhone. I do NOT want to scratch that.
