Standards for faulty pixels

JW wants to reach an agreement regarding stuck pixels with forum members.

Background. In order to satisfy a standard of perfect M8 screens, the production process needs to be refined to a maximum of 2.9 errors per million. This kind of quality is not feasible for civilian use. Most companies aim for three sigma quality (3.4 million errors per million). In the electronic industry the demands are naturally somewhat special and many companies have a six sigma quality goal. Having a goal is not equal to meeting it however, striving for higher quality increases development costs many times over.
Under today's technical conditions, no maker of large displays, except military contractors, will guarantee a product free of faulty pixels.
Let's take a look at how some different companies have approached faulty pixels in their products.

JW: To let customers return M8 because of dead pixels would increase our costs greatly, besides there is an universal industry standard regarding dead pixels. To try to fight this (standard) would be a dead cause and make no business sense! You can't alienate your customers, but to forsake your personal profits or even the company's profits just can't be done. No need to start a company if you do!
Just to clarify, it's within normal standards to have few faulty pixels on the M8, it's not enough cause for compensation (buyback)!J.Wong says
I'm very grateful that you understand this [common Chinese expression]
Because of pixel problems in the M8 screen and maybe rising costs overall it's not possible to aim for pixelfault free screens. I hope we can take this a step further and reach an universal agreement about the pixel standard together with the forum members.

Maybe it's better to only have English in threads like this and then refer to the translation thread? This way, it's easier for members to find relevant information quickly.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

You're probably right. It's more functional like that. I'll edit the post accordingly.
