I just said YOU CAN. I can't say it any simpler than that...

3G has nothing to do with phone calls and sending sms. 3g is a wireless internet network. so yes, since the phone supports 850/900/1800/1900, (im not sure these are the correct networks) you can, call and text anyone.

    JW says:
I really don't know, you'll have to ask Ms Huang. [I don't know what he's referring to.]
We don't plan to mass export this generation of M8s, but we plan to sell in HK, Taiwan and Macao.
The saddest thing is that I myself can't go to HK. One time I brought the wrong credentials and now it doesn't matter how much I explain, they still won't let me in.

I guess the "mass export" quote is the heart of the matter. How many is it? And where do they go? Ella was talking about some failed distribution deal in Europe.

Anyone seriously interested in pursuing this question now has a name (Ms. Huang), a phone number (86-756-6116261...no "0" in front of the 756), and an email address.

Meizu hasn't done very well choosing their agents for overseas sales [cough] Dane-Elec [\cough] and with Jack Wong taking a much higher road with the M8 (authorized shops only, no internet sales in China) I can't see them signing an agreement with some second-rate rebrander this time. I would guess Jack Wong's goal is to really focus on Greater China and really focus on perfecting the M8 before any big push to sell/market the phone in other countries.

i think if they wanna take it to EU, they should get a deal with some operator to get the phone to bigger publics. i think around here the biggest attractions are these phonese with some 1-2 year contracts. since Tmobile in selling the ip in many places, Vodafone could be a good choice, or something like that.

Yeah. Companies that don't sell the iPhone are desperate to find a phone that can rival it... it's just that the M8 is TOO iPhone like... looks like a "cheap" Chinese copy by an unknown brand

how it looks is one thing. what ppl think about it only depends on advertisement
but i dunno if any western comapnies would really be that eager to jump into a deal with a chinese company. especially if Voda is already good friend with Huawei, which will also be a rival to Meizu in the future probably with their android phone...

Yeah, there's a reason why it says dual-band... But JW already confirmed it's quad-band.

M8's productivity is still very low right now... We Chinese also have to wait for a long time to get our M8s. Since 12.8, even the capital city of a province has only received 100 M8s at most, just like Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province.

My local distributor is the largest in Juangsu. They have accepted 55 pre-orders, but only 15 of them got their machines UNTIL TODAY...that means more than 40 pre-ordered people are still waiting.

So I think before MEIZU could supply the mainland's need well, there won't be any official exported M8. Of course if somebody wants to buy it badly, I could offer some help if I can(buying from local, and send to your country by Fedex or DHL), but you will lose the warranty.

I've waited (like every one else) a long time for this phone. :P
I assume M8 won't support "Æ, Ø, Å" letters until an Europe release or something.

So I wondered if you think it would be possible that an imported M8 from China, (Or imported from the US etc. if the European launch came a few months after the US for example.) if it would be able to somehow update or have a optional additional software installed to support these letters?

I'm from Norway btw, and my messages will look weird without them. :P
(But I can manage to live without the "æ, ø, å" letters.
It's just more easier to have them availible when texting. )

Welcome to the forums. It's always possible. Even more so after the SDK is released. But don't hold your breath, it would most definitely have to come from someone in the community first. I for one would also appreciate an extended keyboard.
    (å ä ö, anyone?)
