Do any of you now if windows mobile can be installed on m8? It would be really good since windows ce is pretty much worthless. With mobile version you could install anything you like but with ce and that interface you can't.
Maybe one could just format m8 and install win mobile rom on it?

...afraid that's not possible mate.
Meizu built the touchscreen functions on ce...
so to say that it is worthless...
is to say that the M8 is worthless...

Thanked 29 Times in 16 Postsi don't agree with ppl wanting android on this phone either, but at least i can understand them, that's not such a bad system.
but for crying out loud, why on earth would somebody want wimo on this phone? that system is horrid, it's slow, and not ment for finger use. it's like somebody buying an imac, and then asking "can i install windows 98 on it?"...
maybe wimo7 would be worth a try, but that's more than a year away. for now the only plus side of it is more programs available.略懂

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThere is lots of good software for Windows CE.
Probably there will be both MS Office and a messenger client installed (or aviable through the rumored Meizu shop).
Even my old WinCE4 device beats WinMO with several light-years
WinMO is so bad I can hardly beleive it's based on WinCE

No offence but, are you insane? why would you want to put windows (piece of S**t) mobile on the M8. Windows mobile 6.1 is a horrifc completely out dated OS with some of the worse touch screen support I have ever seen. I have used a Samsung Omnia extensivelay and windows mobile with a touch screen is possibly the worst combination in history. You will always need to carry a stylus at all times, it only support 65,000 colours and is unbelievably slow, convoluted and unintuitive. Basically a nightmare to use in day to day normal situations. It is also built on a dated Win Ce 5.0 architecture. Win Ce 6.0 is far far superior as the whole kernal was redesigned recently pretty much from scratch and can support thousands more processes. Meizu's interface looks 1000 times nicer than any windows mobile interface and can actually be used properly with just a finger.
Windows mobile 7 will be based on Win Ce 6.0. Windows CE 6.0 is In my mind one of the best choices for any company looking to make a completely touch screen OS. Android looks very average IMO. It is nice that it is open source but it looks very boring and ugly. The features are also nothing to write home about, although I do like the alerts drop down on the main menu. The music and media features and UI are pretty poor and badly designed too IMO.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI think its good thing that the big companies are using Wimo. It could give the edge for Meizu. For example one of the biggest home appliance market chains here in scandinavia, called "Gigantti" is selling the following: (at the time)
-HTC Diamond for 530€,
-Samsung Omnia for 650€
Both use Windows Mobile 6.1. Of course these phones have HSDPA, but the screens are 65K and in my opinion 256K is minimum for my taste. So if these really support only 65k (same as my deceased Siemens CX65 had) then those are joke.
Also none of these phones have a real GPS, only A-GPS, so they need to use mobile connection. (AFAIK, correct if im wrong)Black 8GB miniPlayer SP with FW 2.004.6

Sere83, it seems like every time you post its always with a wall of text.
(I do agree with you though)
alffrom, I can see why you think Windows Moblie is better than Windows CE, is because WInMo came out much later than WinCE, and therefore is newer and better, but this is not the case. Even though Windows Mobile is newer than Windows CE, it does not make it more superior. Not every new product is better than their predecessors. WinMo is based on the outdated WinCE 5, which is worse the the CE 6, what the M8 is running on.Last edited by Blah; 12-04-2008 at 09:02 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsA-GPS should work without a mobile connection (at least on my Motorola), but it is horribly slow, can take 30 minutes to get a connection. I'd rather have a SIRF III than A-GPS, to be honest. Unless A-GPS is combined with a SIRF III.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI would rather like to see M8 running customized Android instead of WinMo as another supported OS.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWindows CE 6.0 is actually a very decent and stable system. Also, it's just very basic. Meizu made it's own UI on top of it. WinMo is horrible, you find it on some PDA's. And on HTC devices but they suck double because of WinMo and that horrible TouchFLO thingy. I'd prefer seeing Android running as an alternative OS as well. Though, Android's interface is fugly, the M8's UI is very nice.
