lets just prey there is no more delays, and the license comes soon.

No with regards to the M8 vs iPhone, I wonder sometimes if people actually understand the huge differences in infrastructure and resources when comparing these 2 companies.

Why would you possibly think for one second that the M8 is going to be as polished or run as well as the iPhone when it is first released? The iPhone has been in production for over 2 years and is on it's second incarnation. It also took probably millions of dollars more to develop and has probably hundreds of far more exprienced and respected engineers working on the project. Not to mention the fact there have been a whole load of FW updates for the iphone helping MAJORLY in optimising it's performance.

All these M8 vs Iphone comparisons are unbelievably stupid in my opinion. I've said it may times before but what people must understand is what Meizu had achieved with the M8 is truly amazing, considering their miniscule size/resources/funding etc in comparison with a company like Apple. It has taken Jobs over 30 Years to get Apple to where they are today and even make the iPhone possible, they are a completely different league of company.

If people want an iPhone and all it's features it's simple BUY AN IPHONE. While the M8 misses some features the iphone has, it also adds features the iPhone does not have. These unique fetures are why people should be interested in this device IMO, not beacuse they think it should have all the features of the iphone....and more, because they will be dissapointed.

And all these people asking Wong stupid questions about why didn't you include this and that blah bla blah. The man is obviously 100% on top of his game and knows more of the limitations & possibilities of the M8 than any one else, I trust his judgement, particularly with regards to engineering and licensing restrictions more than any member of any meizu forum. You can clearly see his standards are sky high and for that I have great respect. This is why the M8 is looking as good as it is already. He time and time again goes so far as to give explantations about why he has used certain compnents etc. This is WAY beyond the call of duty of what you would expect from any CEO.

People need to stop being naive, look at the facts and undestand that the odds of meizu suceeding in this unbeliavably demanding project have always been stacked against them. The fact they have come so far and produced anything that can even stand next to an iphone and hold its own shows that IMO Wong has the great determination and unremitting will to suceed that many great technology mavericks have all had. It his his attention to detail and the fact he listens to the fans that I hope will one day eventually elevate the M8 and future Meizu products to the peak of the industry.

waja2000, thats not correct. I talked to meizu today. they will ONLY release some newer versions and ship them to some testers. you can trust me! if not, you will see

for all euroepans. meizu will not distribute in europe, not in 2008 and not in 2009 !!!

meizu told me that it was never a part of the meizu m9 story to sell in europe or us. so they are not interested in doing so. a swiss company offeres a lot of money only for a sellers licence, but after 6 month of discussions meizu broke and told that they are not interested as i wrote into european market

And for my reference.... I got all infos like picture 1 weeks before every chinese press received any photos......because i am honest and will not copy any of my picture, technical features details to the internet. But in 1 point I dont agree with meizu. I dont like the delays and the way they handle the marketing.... so I say no meizu in europe and no official seeling in 2008 !!!

See picture...sure i deleted every name...but you can see its from meizu, that was for example the picture you partly can see as my avatar.

P.S. LOL was not able to upload my reference...

Mmm... I think the price is very very competitive, but it'll have a opponent: Nokia 5800, which will cost about 270€ in Spain after Xmas (now it's very expensive: 400€).
About selling M8 in Europe, I think it's a big mistake because how many people would buy it in Europe? On the other hand, I would't like that Meizu becomes like Apple, it would suck. Anyway, if Meizu is not interested in selling in Europe, I think someone will do it. What happened with M6? It appeared because people via Internet were interested in it, so it worked. As well as selling, I think Europeans fans of Meizu will work by themselves to translate firmwares and others. That won't be a problem, at all.

i am to old to communicate that way. see it is nice that you love meizu and that you try to find out everything by reading chinese fan sites and bbs. but there are a lot of informations and until now - maybe i am wrong - there is only the board owner and me knowing meizu.

2 or 3 weeks ago i received all informations and special photos from meizu showing the phone and my chinese mobile number. no photoshop or whatever. i am in direct communication, but i am a honest guy and i will not forward informations without the ok from meizu. so no pictures from me.

on the other hand it we buyers also will trust in meizu. but j. wong is not working like that. delays since years now. again and again he is playing with the hopes of all fans. ok now we have a prototype. i asked meizu why they do not clear official words in 2 or 3 boards. no, they wont do that. i offered to do so and they told me, yes, thank you. problem is, i will not play with the dreams of the m8 fans. thats why i will tell the true and the true is: no licence in 2008. no official release in 2008. only some new phones will send to testers again, and to tell you the true, i am not sure that they will get same one the few testers received some days ago.

so please dont push the m8 to much. 2 weeks ago meizu told me that m8 maybe never release. and for all european friends. it will not come to europe. for all germans. you will never get one because meizu is at a customs black list. every meizu will be destroyed...if it is a gift or not, if you declare it as sample or not. meizu has huge problems in germany.

there was only one hope to get the phones to europe. but after 5 month of discussions meizu broke today and said they only will do the chinese market...if m8 will come out. i really do not know what this guy j.wong is doing. but in my opinion he doesnt have a lucky hand in this case.

    What Sere83 said

FANTASTIC post!, pretty much spot on with my views.

    Also..

The M8 is as near to release as ever, but delays are delays - sh*t happens!

At least Mr Wong has the decency to publicly communicate with Meizu's "fans" on issues regarding quality control etc

Release WILL happen and for those worrying about what countries it will be available in......

    one word...

    eBay

Whatever country in the world u live in. Trust me! - you WILL be able to get an M8

As a side note, personally, id rather wait until easter for the release of the M8 and have a great product, rather than have it rushed, just so people that can treat themselves for Christmas! ONly to find themselves moaning in January because they have a 3rd rate device.

    Regards

    Russ

Well, but think that forge process with molds doesn't make a good quality it's an error.
You can do a perfect quality piece with forge and some postprocess later.
This frame won't be better quality if it's produced with CNC.

    Greets!

Ah well, he doesn't show any sources eh, not a single reason to believe him. I guess it's just some troll or Apple fanboy/employee. Also why on earth would Meizu not release the device, we've seen so many video's of it, it's no doubt in existance. It doesn't make sense not to release it now. And if for some weird reason Meizu won't release it JW will surely sell the plans to some other company who will then release it.

Anyway, Meizu does have some problems in Germany because they were raided at the CeBIT for their M6 playing MP3 files without having the license for it.

About Opera's speed, the Opera browser is actually pretty fast, I think it's just the connection. Anyone knows if it will be possible to use a HTTP proxy on it? Because if that's the case, it's fairly easy to have a compressing proxy retrieving websites for your phone.

    Yeah, yeah, of course.

Germany CAN'T destroy products. It's stupid. Only Hitler's Germany did it.

And is stupid too think that 2 or 3 weeks ago "meizu thinks that m8 maybe never release". He/she don't know a company works, and how an industrial product is produced...

They can destroy products but it generally only happens when they think it's dangerous. Illegal stuff (like the M8, maybe), can be confiscated though. When you label it as a present and don't mention the name of Meizu when importing nothing will happen.

i am a little bit confused...
i am not shure if we can trust ellaellasong...

    reasons:

2 weeks ago meizu told me that m8 maybe never release.
for what reason? to destroy the company meizu?
maybe they have problems with licences but they would be stupid, when they give up and looses millions of dollars of development costs

and for all european friends. it will not come to europe. for all germans. you will never get one because meizu is at a customs black list.
meizu m6 is selled here at amazon and some big online stores.. why not the m8?

    every meizu will be destroyed...
    that only happens to brandfakes

there was only one hope to get the phones to europe. but after 5 month of discussions meizu broke today and said they only will do the chinese market...
thats no reason not to get it here in germany.. we are a free country and are allowed to import every legal product ;-) -> ebay
many asian shops sell at german ebay

and why should they renounce of the world market? for me theres no reason

the only reason would be if they use patented components

in germany the m8 is not only seen as a iphone fake, shure there are these oppinions, but if the german "zoll" don't declare it as a fake (no patent hurts - no fake) there is no reason to destroy or to forbit the m8.

if meizu will really act like ella says they would be very stupid. i always thought meizu plans to become a well known brand a good alternative to apple, nokia, etc.

    edit:
btw: there is one ebay seller who has a dealer who will ship the m8 to germany as soon as possible by now!
