So do people know when the first reviews will be published? And who will the main sites/reviewers be? M8 is looking good and finally on the verge of release...

Believe me, the Chinese tech sites are going to be falling all over themselves to push their reviews out the door and get those all-important page views...the wait won't be long, in other words.
Typically you'd expect to see reviews from ZOL, PCOnline, PCPop, iMP3 and lots of others...but I'm guessing CNMO is in J Wong's doghouse at the moment.Last edited by chengdude; 11-26-2008 at 02:08 PM.

Send one to Engadget, Mr. Wong. And to CNET. And AnythingbutiPod.com, and dapreview.net etc.

I wouldn't bother sending it to engadget. You would basically have a list of their view of cons of the product and how better the iphone is. Along with that, you would then have a flood of user comments echoing the same views. Pointless

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYou haven't been to Engadget lately, have you? One of their last posts on the M8 was rather positive, and there are many people on Engadget defending the M8 in the comments.
Don't forget that Engadget is read by a lot of people (and played an important part in making the M6 and M8 well known), and that they themselves are quite critical of the iPhone and its many flaws. They do cover a lot of Apple news, but they aren't fanboys. If the M8 is really good, I would expect them to give it a good review (they don't seem that biased), and then the M8 would really take off.
Confirmed: Google was naughty, broke App Store rules with iPhone app - Engadget isn't really pro-Apple, is it?
Meizu M8 captured on video looking smooth, doing multitouch - Engadget was posted by Joshua Topolsky, who is editor-in-chief at Engadget. He did the Blackberry Storm review, he also did the one for the G1. Ryan Block, then editor-in-chief at Engadget, did the reviews of the iPhone and iPhone 3G (and yes, he was listing flaws of the devices). It would seem that either one of them would review the M8, if they get one.
Maybe that isn't such a good idea after all though, because too much attention on the M8 means that Apple will notice too, and they have a lot of lawyers.

I would give an M8 to Engadget. It's free advertising. Engadget is the only reason why Meizu is getting my money. I found out of the M8 through Engadget. There is no doubt that Engadget LOVES Apple (and Engadget isn't a big fan of the M8 either, check out the latest M8 article on Engadget), but it's still a great site.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYeah, if JW has confidence in the M8 then send it to them. I'd expect them to be fair. Devices that they have looked forward to for a long time may get bad reviews, if there is a problem with them. They also praise where praise is due. There is a reason why Engadget is the most popular gadget blog.

Thomas Ricker at Engadget always had pretty harsh words for Meizu, but I think this gadget blog would probably get a review unit before they do:

Frankly, the Chinese version of Engadget seem a little slower than pure Chinese tech-news sites when it comes to covering Meizu-related material.
As mentioned before, the major Chinese tech portals will have reviews up first; ZOL and PCOnline.

they probably know by now. The M8 was on the cover of popular science last year. Apple would have sued them by then.
They probably rather try to blow the M8 (and other knock-offs) out of the water with better Apple products than to spend money on some silly international lawsuit.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDon't forget that Apple waited a long, long time until they sued Psystar (the ones who made ordinary computers with OSX installed on it). They might just be preparing the lawsuit for all we know. Because Apple might have something to loose if they loose at court. Maybe they are just waiting, they might doubt that the M8 will be good and a success. There's no point in trying to sue someone to hell and back who doesn't have a chance on the market anyway/isn't important enough. I guess they couldn't care less if Meizu sells 500 units to the US, but if Apple feel they are a threat...
So I should have made myself clearer, it's obvious that Apple knows, but for now Meizu is some unknown, tiny company they couldn't care less about. But that might change.
