Is not really a "faulty" unit, just the earpiece sound quality not up to J.Wong standard, maybe just enough for normal used, and review is test all function not only the call, i think should not be effect march on normal use. if not they not going to send 100 for internal tester, an 100 unit for review, that will give m8 a bad review.

Somebody in the chinese bbs just predicted JW's excuse for next "delay":

Seriously though, for now the M8 is still vaporware. It's been developed for how long now, and still they manage to add more delays...

does this mean that the media won't get the m8 on the 28th? NOW, does the reviews come on dec. 5 and not on the 28 because of the delay? HELP WHAT DOES THIS MEAN! does the media still get it on the 28th? because i want to see reviews of this phone really badly

it means that JW will send out the 500 faulty devices for the media to test, and on Dec. 5 will replace those with the better ones.

Is it just me or are a lot of people be unbelievably naive? Did you honestly think that you were going to get an M8 by next week, when it won't even be available from online retailers initially, Meizu are only shipping TEST UNITS and they haven't even got a mobile phone license yet!.....Use your brains!

All that was said was the headset circuitry wasn't quite up to Mr Wongs standards so they are only shipping 500 test units, then they will correct this circuitry for the final release and hope to ship by December the 5th IF THEY GET A MOBILE PHONE LICENSE.

Nothing has changed they still have NO LICENSE! Any changes to circuitry is irrelevent to us if they don't have a license. We have known this for monthes, have you people not been reading the forum or something?

Do you really want some test unit with sub standard circuitry? There is no way I would touch that with a barge pole.

I would suggest you don't even expect to get an M8 until late december early January at the very earliest unless you are a sucker for punishment. And in case you have all forgotten meeting deadlines isn't exactly Meizu strong point. ;-)

Also...All this J.Wong delay tactics talk is complete rubbish. He's just keeping us up to date with the latest developments.

If anything this is damn good news, it suggests that Mr Wong has high hopes that they will get a proper license by December the 5th, meaning they can start proper production and distribution.

Very well said sere83. Very well said indeed. While it is horrible always hearing about these delays and such, it is good to know what is happening and not being left in the dark. Wait and see what happens when the deadline comes for the release date given for December. If that comes and goes without any release and with more delays, then we can argue about it.

Don't be so negative...I mean common guys...just admit it, the M8 is sexy. It's the reason why we're here. Where else are you going to find a device that's faster than the iPhone, has incredible audio quaity, supports multitouch, has superior codec support (iPhone says: "What's that?"), has a better camera than the iPhone and much more for such a low price?

I know many are tired of waiting...but personally I'm just glad I'm here for the ride. Knowing that I'm waiting on a device that's not made by a big company like Apple, but rather a small MP3 manufacturing underdog makes me feel incredible. Meizu is giving me a way to oppose the mainstream iPhone and I'm very thankful for that. This may be our chance to witness a small company rise to power by doing exactly what the majority of Chinese companies are not - imbuing their devices with quality. I'm glad to be here for this.

For those of you who will no longer wait for the device, I guess I can understand where you're coming from. Of course the choice is completely up to you, but who knows, maybe you're going to miss out on something big.

Wong has said it many times - He's tired of the delays too. But no matter how many times we complain, in the end it's absolutely better to have a thoroughly tested and consummated device. We have a perfectionist on our side, which in this case is a very good thing.

I don't want to start a flame war, but for anyone experienced in dealing with Chinese companies, planning of any sort (besides lunch) is not one of their strengths. Worse, you have this mom-and-pop BBS chat from J Wong, who at the same time aspires to mythical Jobsian perfection. Some people might appreciate the honesty and openness with his devoted (fawning?) fans, but frankly at this point Meizu looks like a big corporate farce to me.

Seriously, love the Apple-like direction the company is going, love the M8, but for god's sake, hire a PR professional and keep the dirty laundry in-house.

In my hand's M8 is modify using the "baypass wire", the earpiece clearer is louder than before, but version the new circuit board needs 10 days to be able to arrive.
I understood that everybody's mood, did not know said anything to be good, in brief was sorry very much.
This 2 days will mail out the review unit to the media, will certainly also state, because under the time matter present unit earpiece sound quality will no up to standard.

Personally i dont mind the delays, rather be delayed and the product is good than rush it out when its sub-standard.

I really cant see anything be publicly released before Christmas - but hey, thats fine.

You really need some patience people

if they want to sell the M8 in Germany, they would need to support umlauts.

it will be probably the most usable phone for multimedia, browsing, and stuff. and besides, i have also been looking foward to it since they announced the M8. so it's delayed, so what? i bought 2 phones since that. but i'm pretty sure i'll be buying the M8, once it comes out finally. and my N78 will just have to find anouther nice owner.
the fact that somebody is not actively waitng throughout the whole (2 year) development and release period doesn't mean they can't be interested in it anymore...
