let's just hope he won't increase the price to make up the for the income he is loosing...

This is a bit on the down side but at the same time it is best if all the hardware bugs are sorted before mass production. Software can be updated but hardware is a bigger headache for after sale. Let's just hope there aren't anymore delays.

i´m getting on the point i am starting to believe that he will never come out.

my first thought was ok, on the fifth they will say ohh we have another problem, it will come out on de 1/01/2009 and on and on....
and then..ooops.. we are not going to make this device, it costed to much money,its old techno so... bye..! *sigh*

another issue; new hardware, meaning more chances that wifi will not be built in and deactivated???? Face it if they may not launch it why would they include this??

would there be a possibility to get such demo device?

if you think into it, its not that bad, the fifth is next Friday. The real problem for us, international buyers is that they wont start mass prodoctuin until they get the license, by the 15th as soonest. So even if they will release it then, we will hardly see one under our xmas trees

have they sent out the test units, as promised?

Like waja2000 already said: there is no delay because they don't have the license yet and without the license they can't sell the M8 properly, even if they wanted to.

For us Europeans it would be close to impossible to get one of the 500 test samples as well. Those are all in Chinese hands, most likely.

Just one thing I don't understand completely... The 500 units JW mentioned are the updated versions or those still have to be replaced? Doesn't really matter ...I'm just curious.

I'm looking to get a 16gb model and don't think this will be happening until after christmas, I've been waiting so long anyway another month and a bit won't make a great deal of difference to me. Plus I would much prefer to wait for the first few thousand to roll off the production line and get one which is completed rather than some test version so any early hardware problems can be ironed out. It will also enable me to read the reviews and get an idea of how well the device really performs.

Obviously we are all eager to get our hands on one but I think waiting is definitely the wise option and will mean less problems and hassle in the long run.

My thought. I was actually going to wait a few weeks and then buy it. It will most likely be cheaper, easier to get and you have the chance to read up some reviews from websites you trust. In fact, we've not seen a single review so far.

I do hope the 16GB will not take 5 months again..

Yes need to replace, JW said all M8 unit which production is before Dec 5 have to replace with new m8 unit which production is after Dec 5.

Guys...Just settle down. There's nothing to worry about here; this isn't bad news. They never had the license in anyway. We have been informed that the EARLIEST they can obtain this license is around 12/15 by waja2000 so Dec. 5 isn't really a delay.

Would you guys rather have a device be as closest to perfection as possible and have it be released later or would you guys rather buy something with flawed internal hardware now?

For the really impatient users, the 500 test units will satisfy you. We should see many many many reviews/pictures/videos.

@nice2know_u - I think the 500 retain the hardware flaw because Wong said the improved version of the circuit will exist Dec. 5 and because of this they will only issue a total of 500 units (for evaluating, testing, and demo agents) prior to that date.

I see, thanks for clearing that up. So the media will test these "faulty" devices... I wonder what's the problem with them.

thats SOOO true - FFS people weve been waiting SOOO long whats a few more weeks - be patient people

id rather have a fully tested device rather than be a public beta tester.

Errrrr, surely this is going to force a fair bit of a delay, if the newer chip/board/circuit/whatever it is won't be available until Dec 5 surely it will take a few weeks of production before the M8 begins to be sold...possible not until Jan 09 maybe? I'm not sure what is needing to be replaced exactly so i'm just thinking aloud right now....

Looks like people are still too naive. It has always been "just a few more weeks". I would not be surprised at all when they run into yet again another issue when remaking the circuit board.

i've got some relatives comming over for the holidays so i might be able to get my hands on one for xmas XD

I'm only waiting until March 2009. If it's not released by then, I'll get an iPod touch 2G and stick with my current cell phone.

i can get a new mobile in march from my provider.. when its not out then maybe i will decide for another one
