A crystal case would do the same but break.
I have to attend a class session right now, but I have thought of something I can do to show you why I don't recommend them. I'll do it after I get back (1-2 hours) and post it in this thread.

Silicone attracts dust, but that's all I can think of.

I think silicone cases look fine. I have never had mine get sticky; only when you cover it with your own sweat, but even so it's not really sticky. Crystal cases are nice, but break after one drop (or long cracks across the surface).

Hi there Blah. I'm back. Polycarbonate crystal cases do not break/crack after one drop, but regular simple plastic ones may. I think silicone cases look terrible, but that's subjective to my personal opinion. I find that silicone cases are dust magnets. Here is a picture showing two of my PSP devices.

One is in a silicone case and the other sports polycarbonate crystal armor. Personally, I think silicone cases detract from the aesthetics too much.
Also, there are more choices than just crystal and silicone. For example, there are metal cases out there.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think a silicone case is the worst choice for a sleek looking device. If the silicone doesn't look ugly to you and it works, then by all means, go for it.
