thanks. The video specs look awesome but the headphones suck.
Too bad they didn't go for intra. But there's a jack so no big deal.

actually they don't suck that much. see, it1s 34 ohm, that means the M8 is loud! usually these plug in your ear type stuff (like my EP630) are 16 ohm ones...

My friend, it's not in-ear. The sound quality will suck as you will hear all other noise that's around you. Ah well, I just hope the plug will be iPhone compatible, as there are lots of nice third party headsets being made for the iPhone, they might work in the M8 too. Even a headset version of the Creative Ep630's at the bottom of this page:
Ultimate Buds*::*Products

Anyway, nice specs. Video supports .mov (horrible format but often used), and also h.264 which is nice to encode your videos in when you want to watch a movie on the M8. Also, it seems to support 30 FPS which is good. And from music formats I see FLAC, APE, AAC, AC3, very nice

I guess you really like screwing up your hearing.

M8 has a 3.5 mm jack so every regular headset is going to be supported. I would go for the new Crossroads Mylarone Bijou M headphones that feature a microphone.

the point of in-ear headsets is not that they are louder than others, because that - as somebody already said - would just effect your hearing in long terms, but that they shield out unwanted sounds, like an ear-plug. so you don't need to crank it up so loud, that you go deaf.

Why would you want loud headphones? If I wanted something load I'd buy a brandless headset, they are very loud because they just crack up the high tones and bass. I prefer sound quality above loudness. In-ear, by definition, blocks more sound then normal headphones. This way you don't need to crank up the volume to the max which 1. saves your ears, 2. increases music quality and 3. saves your battery (a little, not really much, but still).

I believe MKV (matroska) is a container fileformat, it can include avi and mpeg for example, and several audio channel and subtitles.
And please don't quote images, it's very annoying.

MKV is a container, most commonly used to store compressed HD content, however none of the mentioned supported codecs details suggest any possibility of being able to play back HD content. So in this instance MKV does not mean HD.

Edit: @nice2know_u: snap

Who cares if it doesn't support HD? HD means NOTHING more then a resolution. It's just a marketing term. For example, Sony is now shipping 'Full-HD camera's'. I tell you what, my 5 year old Olympus MJU300 camera already got a resolution that's way larger then full-HD. Why on earth would you want the device to play HD content if the screen doesn't have the right resolution to display it. Okay, it might be nice to have a bigger resolution, but the DPI on the screen is so high you won't notice the difference between a HD file and a normal file on the screen's native resolution anyway.

well, if it had a digital tv-out (like hdmi or something), then it would make sense. you just take it over to some place with an HD ready display, and watch some movies.
but even so, a 720p movie would take up about half of the storage space...

Not to mention the battery would probably drain in an hour or so.
