Will most or some windows mobile softwarwe work on meizu m8's modified windows ce 6.0? Because i thought that windows ce and windows mobile are very "related". So...does this mean we could install windows mobile software, new and old, and transfer it to the meizu m8? is this possible>
also... i've heard speculation about whether if you can or you can't transfer files like documents, mobile games, and mobile apps from a computer to the m8 by usb, and can you? I thought this was an open os on the meizu, or intended to.

Hi, you should be able to transfer whatever you like to the M8, but I do believe that the CE6.0 it's running on is special, so you cannot use Win Mobile software on it as far as I know.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsmbarry is right... I think. i believe Meizu has taken the wince 6.0 kernel and used it to build their own OS. I guess a very basic way to compare Windows Mobile and Meizu OS for example, would be like Coca-Cola and Pepsi or Budweiser and Heineken; similar, but very different at the same time. Also do not forget that the screen resolution of the M8 is a rare one (720x480). I hope this helps, but at the same time this is just my guess. I'm not a hundred percent on this either.
. Can anyone shed a little more light on this dilemma?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI don't think so. In a screenshot of the taskmanager seperate tasks (email, phone, musicplayer, etc) were showed as different processes running as .exe files. I think the 'phone' is just software that runs on WinCE. This is also the easiest way as redesigning the kernel would take ages and it's not necessary.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsFrom my experience with GPS navigation systems which are based upon WinCE running apps can work, if you can get to the WinCE core. Depending on how much of WinCE is on the system some apps may work while some others won't, but you won't get that pretty Meizu interface. It also might be possible to install things to the WinCE core which gives it the ability to run more apps. But we'll only know when someone actually has an M8 and tries it all out. We also don't know how locked down the system is... remember, Meizu wants to sell apps for the M8, so they have little interest in making the M8 an open plattform.

I was thinking of building a few little apps for win ce in visual c++. Is it possible that those apps will work on the m8?
Or do i need some kind of sdk?

You need an SDK in order to be able to program for the specialized shell that the M8 runs on.
