M8 with Nokia LD-3W wireless GPS demo

Just someone M8 tester nickname "nickey" put a report for how to use M8 with External GPS device. he getting green light from Meizu to put the report.

    Just summary is translate

    Device: m8
GPS: Nokia LD-3W wireless GPS module (using bluetooth)
    Software: route66

the GPS device can find 11 satellite, weather on that time no very good. i happy with the results .

they use handwriting language input software(not sure what software he find and install), to enter location name call "shenyang" city to search.

my god, search so fast, 1400 record found in less than 2 second searching, who use integrated GPS sure know this kind of speed in your concept~~too happy.

Option for selecting guidance , fast/car, slow/car , work only.

finally start guidance, can see the road mark very clear, this is just a small road but rou66 able to display, Route66 really powerful.

Ok, just until here, route66 have a lot of funtion, i not showing one by one, there will be alot Route66 guide on internet, just give everybody know how to use on m8.

summary: after few day m8 on my hand, i keep play with it, i feel m8 is really value for money, moreover alot CE/WM software on market also can running on m8 which i very worry on early , now is no problem anymore.
But during Route66 testing, i found the small bug, you can see on m8 top status bar, the bar covered Route66" the top part of the windows, but that not affect use of the software.
Regarding Route66 on M8 performance, really can use “shock” to describe that, the pronunciation guidance sound is clear, the display is sharp, the localization is accurate, search speed wonderful quick incomparable, better than my friend 2K+built-in GPS unit, i think from time to time, software will getting better and better

First time i typing so many word and screen shot, because i too excited. see on next time, i will continue to give report for m8 software review.

Hold on... So WM softwares can run on M8? That's awesome!
Also are they allowed to publish informations about the testing? Or only him? Is he going to write a full review?

he said alot CE/WM software can be use on M8, but not said all CE/WM software, and u can see route66 also have some bug went use on M8.
only him get special permission to put the review for GPS on M8 only. other software review still need permission by Meizu(JW) before can put in forum.

The GPS app is probably claiming itself to be fullscreen while for M8 it's not, thus making the M8's window manager to force full screen canvas in windowed mode.

Like on SE phones with 176x220 screens, the canvas for windowed java apps and menus is 176x176 square - its screen height (220px) minus 26px for softkeys and 18px for statusbar, and none of the menu or app parts are cut out.

Some tweaks in the M8 window manager, like the ability to set 'always on top' for interface parts and apps, should fix that problem.

other GPS demo by tester "Raysh“

Just look at time and battery on picture,
    M8 + Bluetooth on + screen ON
The GPS test start at 14.27 and testing on 17.37
bateery charge on 17.54 or early,
so we can seen 3hrs battery drop 1 bar, on a lot time M8 LCD+ BT is on
from this i estimate M8 can run full screen on for 5~6hrs at lease, what you think...

Switching on GPS and recording the location on my phone drains the battery in about 1 1/2 hours, but since the M8 doesn't have GPS built in that isn't an issue, this should increase battery life.

Anyway, awesome news, I think I might want to get the M8 after all.
