Well, I recently asked Dane-Elec about M8 and got this information:

Dane-Elec will not have anything to do with M8 in Europe and properly not in the USA as well.
Dane-Elec has stopped all sales of Meizu products.

If you ask me I believe more and more on that what write in post 1.
    Let's wait and see...

    I don't think that's a big loss as Dane-Elec's support is non-existent.

It's not supposed to have support. They're just importers, not manufacturers. Of course the box says "by Dane-Elec", but we all know that's a lie.

Dane-Elec doesn't give a 12 month warranty with their product?

You right, I would not say this is a big loss at all because for me it's looks like Meizu themselves is now planning to directly take care of the rest of this world.
If you look en Emgeton webpage the M8 still planned going out there Q1 of 2009. Is that for East-Europe, right?

am i missing something here? j. wong says he risks bankruptcy while waiting for the license and resolving the m logo issue, if the wait is long enough.

why not try to release the phone internationally, if it's ready to go out? or at least some effort in that direction. i am no businessman but doesn't that make more sense than going belly up?

they are trying to release the phone internationally, but they want to test the phone out on arguably the top country economically in the world. Not a bad place to start eh?

yes, but apparently it is not that easy to do that with the whole license and m logo issues.

my guess is that m8 is not as ready as it's made out to be. if it's ready, why wait even longer to start selling it internationally?

I agree whereizu, the licence is for the chinese market right? If so, they can start shipping international and F...K the M logo, leave it blank

What's this M-logo issue if I may ask?

    <spam>
500th post and still no m8! Woot! Woot!

If I type fast enough I might make the 550-600 before it comes out.

    The Good:

-The M8 will be released one way or another very soon.

-J Wong appears to be supremely confident that the M8 is ready, willing, and able to take on the market.

-There will be a list of authorized sellers on the M8's microsite; great for those living in China and possibly for cross-checking if trying to order from outside China.

    The Bad:

-After almost 2 years, the M8 will launch with a whimper because of endless red tape. Signing off on an agreement to be a "tester" is not something I'm going to do, so it'll be a little longer of a wait before picking up an "officially official" release of the phone.

it seems it finally wont. as JW said, they will give out test units next week, so the earliest final release can be the week after next week.
