J.Wong reply on 7~8/11

Some J.Wong reply.

On internal test.

next week will start every weekend for 100 user

some website reported M8 will be in market on 20/Nov

JW:i also hope it, but i don't know license can get on that time or not.

JW: before getting license, will continue internal test or open testing

JW: after getting license, will immediately official release on market, and at same time stop testing activity.

ask by friend estimate went can getting license

JW: we estimate end of month able to getting it, but is hard to estimated correctly.
if month end still not getting, we just continue add the testing activity and increase the quota of tester.

On RealMedia issue.

JW:currently can play very smoothly, but now we still not getting Real authorization, Although we very much are also glad to pay the authorized fees.

ask how the negotiate with Real

JW: now we actively negotiate with their china representative, but their saying their the main market on Nokia/Motorola and other giant company, for local company they not care add one or loss one customer.
Moreover Win CE/WM belong to open system, requirement is different with other local product (means on close system OS) which already have authorized license, not just only paying the license fees than can use it.
But we currently also cannot obtain what their(real) very concrete requirement.
anyway RMVB currently still can play smoothly, but Real does not take seriously to as, we willing to pay money(license fees) but it is very passive. Certainly has not obtained in the authorized situation, m8 is can't having own rmvb playing capability.

JW: currently software decode 720*480 rmvb is smoothly,
We still continue actively communicate with their(real) person incharge,
hope can getting authorized license, no need m8 user itself find the decode.

JW: if getting authorized license, m8 will having optimization rmvb function, sure better than user itself find the decode software.

This is good news in a way. He has confirmed that we can play video at top resolution smoothly. Even if Real don't give permission to use it officially, someone will release a tool soon after release, in my opinion.

Thanks for the translation

Is it confirmed that 720x480 AVI videos play smoothly? I think that's the format that I use the most. Does the M8 support WMV?

One of the tester said avi format is very smooth up to 1000-1500 (or maybe higher) kbps and 720x480 resolution. Haven't read anything about wmv though...but given that it's a microsoft fileformat I guess they will support it.

yep, is very comfirm that m8 can play 720x480 AVI videos smoothly at any 1XXXkbps bitrate, event some 8M tester test AVI format at 3000Kbps bitrate still ok.

Some J.Wong reply

Ask by fans what video converter software to convert video

Aimersoft iPhone Video Converter

JW: use this one not bad, Aimersoft iPhone Video Converter.
H264/XVID coding also can, just need set the resolution to 720*480.
M8 compatible to support what video format which can play by iphone, include AAC coding with sound.

i found also 720*480 playing affect more better.
