Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsOMG no Wi-Fi?
Will there be Wi-Fi at the second version? The 3G version?
Edit: the Wi-Fi hardware is in the M8 but the China firmware don't allow it?

WIFI is not my main concern as its no good on the road. Without 3G present(activated or not) the M8 will never leave the "beta" stage in my opinion.
In the mean time I have bought an Iphone.
Its easy to use but the sound quality is shitty

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell that was a shocker.
I highly wonder how easy it will be to hack into WinCE/develop a custom driver for the WiFi-feature. From the optimistic side we can be happy Wong put the chip there in the first place, as it would look seemingly useless if it's forbidden by law, Meizu won't release the driver/enable WiFi until it sells international.
I dont suppose they won't include a English language setting in the GUI? English interface for solely Chinese people?
They do seem to like to cripple the m8 a lot don't they? They shouldn't have promised all those features in the first place if they had the slightest idea that it might actually be hard implementing all of them.
So for now it's a 720x480 smartphone with removable battery which sucks at everything else..
@job: put your eq on rock. Even if you don't listen rock it improves the sound remarkable.Last edited by DusL; 10-31-2008 at 10:41 PM.

Thanked 19 Times in 19 PostsM8 will properly still be a nice music player if you only go for that thing after all.
But no wifi - thats ridiculous!
we NEED that thing at least.
With all those license delay I highly doubt even the chinese people will see the M8 on christmas time or this year.
I just hope the M8 don't using the bass of the M6SL
It's kind more muddy compare to my old M6 SP. On the SP it was way more deep and smooth and enjoyable.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsas long as the hardware is in there i wouldnt be concerned a bit. . .
just missing a driver? . man. .now not that i can do it, but i would be 100% confident that some very smart dude out there could write it. .if it had the driver but missing the hardware that would be worth getting pissed about.
but the fact that it will have the wifi hardware in it says volumes. . .i wouldnt be surprised if it was some 'sneaky' way of bypassing the license. . .put the hardware, and dont support it knowing full well someone out there can write the missing function. . .
as long as the hardware's in there - dont worry i say.

man this is bullshit, internet browsing without wi-fi? no 3G this is bad. The M8 will remain a PMP or even less as PMPs have wi-fi enabled.
expect an ousider to write a driver? not so confident.
JW has really messed things up, promisses, promisses and not keeping theme one after the other...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHe did not even say there will be no WiFi. As I understand, the chip is in there but JW won't release the official driver for it. I'm 99,9% sure there's some dude somewhere who comes up with a WiFi driver after the first day of release. As long as the chip's in there, I'm not worried at all.
The thing that worries me is the English interface..

I'm sure it at least has an Engrish option.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAre you sure that some 3rd part patch will be needed to enable WiFi? Meizu can put that driver on their website with label "for Internatinal users only", but dowloadable for everyone.
