Source Android and next M8 or M7

Google have, as promised, released the Android source-code for their mobile platform. Timed to coincide with the launch of the T-Mobile G1, the first commercially released Android device, the source-code will allow developers and OEMs to create software and new devices. In addition, Google are hoping that the software community will feed back into the Android project, adding fresh functionality and driving platform innovation.

And why not in the next version M8 or MiniOne and M7.

Meizu sells two different terminals, one with Windows Mobile and another with Android as the license does not have to pay it and just have to adapt ...

Because it will take a huge ammount of time to get Android running on the M8. Maybe you are lucky and it's easy to install yourself, but don't count on it. The majority of the work that has gone into this phone is software. You can't swap mobile OS'es between platforms as you can with regular pc's. The hardware is way to different for that. There are practically no standarts in the mobile phone market, so it's impossible to just make a mobile OS and run it on everything you like.

MartijnGP, Android is one of the first logical step to change exactly what you said. Future mobile phone's developers will possibly have Android on their minds when they start to fill their billboards. What would you like to buy : a phone with a unique OS and 10 applications or one with Android and a growing number of software with already 1000s of applications ? Also, open source generates a general feeling of trust in a world of surveillance.

actually, if you are a developer, you'll know that andriod is not that "open" as you thought, and the SDK depends on phone makers(HTC etc.). HTC might have the best SDK for now since they released the first andriod phone, but i don't think they will share it to the competitors or even google.

You simply have no idea what you're talking about.
Android was closed before the release of G1 but since it uses Linux kernel which is released under the GPL it had to be opensourced at somepoint (e.g. the release of G1). This is what Google did a couple of weeks ago and now everyone can contribute to the project.
The whole thing is hardware independent and that's why the SDK (which is obviously written by Google) belongs to the software company, not the OEM. It would be really stupid if each vendor would have a separate SDK 'cuz that would probably mean no interoperability between different devices using the very same OS.

And Apple has the best SDK for themselves.

Oh yes, I should mention, Android also has a backdoor to the phone, the manufacturer can remove software that is "potentially malicious", in other words, remove homebrew software. It's not as bad as Apple's since they only mentioned it when asked, Google decided to tell everyone publicly. Choose the lesser of two evils.

I'm talking about devices sharing the same OS. They all share the same Android SDK.
As far as I can read, I didn't mention iPhone and its Mac OS X in my previous post.

True, but I was talking about the M8. The M8 wasn't designed with Android in mind so it'll be fairly hard to run Android on it. Not saying it's impossible, but it'll be easier to run Android on, for example, a new HTC.

Its a matter of drivers my friend.. The M8 was not designed to run android, Instead , Android was designed to run on the M8.

Its the same with any device that runs a windows mobile OS, as long as the CPU is the right architecture then your set, Although a few drivers for screen/wifi ect may need to be coded.
