I think all of these small changes here and there show us that Meizu is really trying hard to pay attention to detail and quality.

On the 3rd page - there's a picture of the M8 with JW's son on it. What does the lightning symbol inside of the battery meter signify?
I prefered the red TV.. I think that together with the Clock and Vinyl icons, it gave a consistent and very cool vintage look to the home page. As for the calendar, I would prefer a paper calendar imitation rather than this rounded corners style (which looks iPhone-ish IMO ).

But I think that EiCO probably made several icon sets, and JW is just trying out different combinations. That way he matures his opinion about each icon, and he also gets to see what people say about them.

And yes, I certainly agree that Meizu are really paying attention to detail. The M8 looks more awesome every day!

    EDIT:
I just looked at the video, and I don't think the calendar icon changed much.. I think it's the exact same icon, but with a different number (it had a "31" in the video, and now it's a "28"). Maybe this number changes dynamically every day? That would be very cool.
Also, I noticed that the "Documents" icon has changed too.. and again, I prefered the one in the video.

yeah just saw that calender stuff too. I think it does change everyday like one of those analogue calendars that folds down after each day passes. That is brilliant! it's touches like that are really helping to show Meizu's dedication to the project and their innovation.

Innovative except for the fact that the iPhone calender icon has been doing that since the beginning of time.

hmm, well i wasn't aware it changed in the same way. It is more like th HTC diamond home screen if anything, except they use a similar idea but for the clock instead. The whole concept is hardly unique to the iphone either. Many devices used the idea before the iphone was even developed. Not particularly original but at least shows meizu are paying attention to details.

Haven't some Windows Mobile devices been doing that since forever?

    So?
You're only reconfirming that a changing calendar icon is not an innovative thing.
I never said Apple was the innovative one concerning that.

(I didn't know WinMo worked with such homescreen-icons. Then again I never used WinMo before)

I didn't think it was innovative in the first place. I was just pointing out that the iPhone didn't have it first.

lol same. Already do that with my M6 (What model of iPod? Is it that new one? How'd you get your hands on it?!) . But seriously, it's a valid, true statement.

    Meizu > Apple.
    Simple as that.

Not neccissarily. All Meizu needs now is more refinement, that's all. It has what other PMPs dream of, it just laks refinement, for example, like the tedious firmware updates.

I congratulate everyone who's been waiting this long. I waited as well, but fell victim to the dark side about a week ago. i'll keep checking the forum, as i have fond memories of my (stolen) M6. I really hope everyone gets what they want out of the M8, either on launch, or eventually through firmware updates. If a 2G M8 comes out by the time I'll be needing a new phone, I'll be all over it.
