09.22 New picture with M8 camera + news

New pics on page 3 and 4

Well, not much but... here you go

    - JW said they will bundle a new headphone model with the M8 called EP20, and it has a built in mic (headset).
    - also they are currently optimizing power problems if I understand correctly from google translation
    - 8gb version: 2380 CNY

    New pic (close-up):

thanks for the update, i hope they manage to get a decent battery life for movie and music playback, any numbers about how many hours it lasts after the fixing of these power problems?

this picture actually looks quite good, so this is the camera in macro modus for close-ups.
Is there an autofocus or do we manually need to switch this mode?

No more info about battery life
According to the (not-so-official) specifications it can autofocus.

i have to agree, i prefer to have a device wich is 1millimeter thicker, and a little bit heavyer, with a battery that lasts a lot longer, over a smaller device with horrible battery life!

look at the psp slim, with the option to put a larger battery in to get 50% more battery life, the downside is that its a little bit thicker
perhaps meizu should consider selling a battery (and special cover for it) with a higher capacity, that would be great becouse everyone can choose wich one you want/need.

Yes, and unlike laptops of which you normally plug in the wall, the extra capacity makes sense.

I'm pretty sure there will be batteries available that are higher in capacity.

When was this release planned, October? Seems unlikely to me if they're still fixing energy consumption problems.

It is indeed true that battery life is a strong bottleneck in a smartphone, I'm glad my iPhone3G can last for the full day, as that is really the minimum of what is acceptable and what Meizu should achieve.

Anyway, I'm quite interested in the m8 as soon as it *^ comes out

Actually, I dislike these photos even more than I did before.. if you compare it to other phone cameras, I guess you can say they're acceptable, but that's it.
Quality-wise these are actually very and poor and noisy. And while some of that noise can hopefully be "turned off" by changing the compression settings, most of it is inherent to the image sensor and there is no way to remove it without filtering. Of course, there is still hope that Meizu will add some kind of adaptive chroma filtering on the final firmware (which would improve quality without too much detail loss), but so far there's no sign of it.

Anyway, I don't consider the photo feature of the M8 very attractive, but thankfully the phone still looks pretty awesome even if we count the camera out.

PS: ironically, today Fujifilm has announced the Super CCD EXR technology, which will probably be a new reference in compact camera sensors.

What do you mean "last for the full day"? That's not acceptable at all... my 4-years-old SE V600i still lasts for about 3 days under regular use..

Thuse are not the new Meizu earphones. The only thing we know is that it will have a built-in mic.

Here you can read JW's latest messages in "English".

    @traps:

I don't mind charging my iPhone up when I go to bed after a day of intensive use. I wouldn't settle with anything less though.

Well, depending on what you consider intensive use, I might also agree with that
But, how long will it last if you just use it for alarm clock, text messages, and ocasional phone calls? My current phone used to last around 5 days when it was brand new..

I hope the M8 will scale down properly when not using CPU intensive stuff as MP3 or video decoding.. it wouldn't make sense if the battery got drained up with simple things.
