    Meizu is not alone

Meizu seems not te be the only company having problems and delays with their M8. Even the biggest multinationals need to delay their new products.

So we should wait and respect the Meizy staff for their neverending effords to give us a really good M8.

The scuttlebutt at IFA is that the XPERIA X1 has been delayed to the end of the year, and a Sony rep confirmed to us that it's looking like December 2008 or January 2009. To blame is the software, specifically Windows Mobile 6.1 (or perhaps SE's implementation of it), which appeared to be actively destroying the display units Sony has on display at IFA -- of the three devices, one had some green status lights, one didn't work at all, and one turned on briefly, only to crash hard and never return again... a pretty poor showing for day one of the show. Some hands-on shots are below, glaringly void of actual device usage.

The second half of 2008 includes December 2008. The only way this could be classed as being delayed is if it come out in January 2009, as said in the article that it might come out in December 2008 or January 2009. And even if it does come out in January 2009 instead of December 2008(which is still part of the second half of the year 2008) it would only be ONE month. Meizu have delayed the M8 by so much more than that. So this is hardly a legitimate or proper comparison.

Let's see how it goes. Remember when the M8 was supposed to come out in Sept. 2007? Then it was delayed to Mar. 2008? Then it was delayed to gosh knows when. Then again, SE does have a "working" model.

Yeah, you didn't know? I first heard about the M8 in Popular Science around May 2007. It was in development before that.

True, it's the 1-year delay anniversary tomorrow. Originally the release date of the m8 was given to us in january 2007, which was Q3. The m7 would be released after that before the end of 2007.

That was a long time ago for me. January 2007 was the first time we heard about the m8 too, they claimed it was already in development for months to avoid the obvious iPhone cloning.

Then again, we have Windows Vista, which was delayed for even longer than the M8 now. Wasn't it supposed to be released in like 2005?
