Plus, it's not practically unless you have Skype or WLive on it, since normal plans cost so much, and no one I know owns a video phone paired with a video plan.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt only makes sense for the m8 not to have 3g since China is in the midst of rolling out their own 3g standard, TD-SCDM TD-SCDMA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Of course Meizu will wait for the roll-out any 3g version, regardless of whether it uses TD-SCDMA or a foreign 3g standard (which will only be released in China once the domestic standard is released) before it implements a 3g radio in its phones.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThat's not what he was saying. He is saying that to make a video call through the carrier is really expensive so it's cheaper to do it through a program like Skype.
But I don't think that would work anyway because it wouldn't be fast enough to make a video call on Skype without 3G.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsFrom what I remember the Chinese version is getting it's WiFi locked bacause of a lack of proper licence for it. Unlocking it somehow would be the key to use it.
Of course this information comes from a direct quote from Meizu CEO Wong so it means that it cannot be relied on in any way.ZTE Blade

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsLol 2010, that a lot of patient you have there :D
I wonder if we will get to see a video of M8 soon?

That was pointless...
Anyways, what I meant is if the M8 came with a front camera, it would need Wi-Fi and a video conferencing program (Skype, MSN) to avoid the impractical video calling service that say, Rogers Canada offers. It costs 5CAD extra a month, IF you have an unlimited data plan (45CAD a month, includes unlimited local calls), paired with unlimited texts (5CAD a month, how is it even vaguely related to Video Calling). Plus, no one I know has a video calling phone, that has a plan, so it's impractical where I live.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 Poststhat´s true, but keep in mind that you will have to open youre mind to new stuff, so for the moment it is pointless,
but in nearby future this may change.
Where i live ,they are allready trying out hybrid calling over wifi and normal network and we have aswel live streaming tv over mobile, so why would it be totaly impossible for video calling, i agree on the fact that maybe in canada it wont be for tomorrow due the fact its a big country
ps i dont have the patience to wait so long cause my current phone is on the breaking edge ;-)

Heh, it's cutting edge. Anyways... it sounds like Belgium is years ahead of the regular network in North America.
What China's doing right now with cell phone TV is having a TV antenna built into the cell phone itself, so they don't have to upgrade the mobile infrastructure at all... Wish North America would do the same thing...
In Japan, you can scan a barcode with a cell phone camera, and using GPS, and Internet data, it'll tell you the best price at stores near you, plus some information about the product (if there's any info to display)
