Real M8 Pics Post By J.Wong

J.Wong took these pics by his DV.....
But what we know is that M8 really exists! That's enough.
He also said that there are still many small BUGS, but it doesn't matter!
Our M8 is going to born!

The 2nd picture is playing a different part of the song. Does that mean it is a working prototype?

If it's real, which I hope it isn't, then for me it looks like Meizu gave up on making an original iPhone killer and made another cheap iClone, therefore wasting a whole year of development and signing their own death sentence. Great job. :<

Tell me why that 3 circle design was bad? WHY? I'm crying! ;[

For me, it actually does look promising. It's a mix of their own work together with the IPhone. If they copy the good parts of the IPhone and give their own touch to it, we might have a winner.

You might say they took all these years and this is what they came with up. That's true, but somehow you should have expected something like this...

I would still miss the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen (i think it would be really handy to have a programmable button, to start the music player for example) instead of having to make the screen fuilty by touching it with your fingers to start somthink like the music player!!

I don't get you people. All you do is complain of lack of news, and when you finally get an actual update, you don't like it!? I mean, what did you guys expect? No matter what you call it, it's still an iPhone clone whether you like it or not! There's no pleasing you! No offense, but just a bunch of hypocrites! I like these pics, and am looking forward to buying an M8!

I'm happy about the update. I would have liked the 3 button design, but I am perfectly fine with the 1 button. You can't have everything.

I think the only complaint on this forum is the lack of release, not news. We've been constantly been fed with news over the past 19 months, the release is just not coming.

I've seen 2 different kinds of casings for the m8, the m8 being presented from a phone to just a mediaplayer to a phone again, a design which included only 1 physical button on the bottom which they changed to 3 buttons which seems to have changed again to 1 single bottom button again, I've been showed 2 final GUI designs, prices have changed a dozen times, 2 different supposed CPU's etc.
It's not the lack of information, it's just lacking the "impact" of it.

About the pictures:

Holy shit the front of the m8 looks exactly like the iPod Touch I'm holding in my hand except for the earspeaker and the M. The back better not look anything like the iPhone (2G/3G). Seriously, it's just looks goddamn cloned. Walking around with it will probably give you the "Chinese-clone-buyer" image.
The GUI looks like a skinned version of the iPhone GUI. Almost all icons/buttons and space destribution are exactly the same.

That back better be pretty.

Give Meizu a break, you know they're a reputable knockoff brand in China, actually one of the brand names there. Besides, when have you guys complained about the look-alike M6 and M3? The M6 has the trim of the iPod nano white, (glossy white & chrome), and the M3 looks pretty darn similar to the first generation iPod nano. It just doesn't have any click-wheel. If you think Meizu is getting ideas for its next products from its R&D, you're somewhat right because the Meizu OS that runs on my M6 has a great equalizer, you can change the background, you don't need iTunes with the startup programs and services.

Also, I looked at the pictures' properties, and although it says it was taken by a SONY DCR-SR300E, the origin of it seems to be a Chinese image editor called "ACD Systems Digital Imaging". They could have rendered it and then easily changed the properties to make it look like it was a real photo. But until we get our hands on a video, the M8's actual existence is to be questioned.

Here's an actual picture of the DV,

So why didn't Jack Wong take a video of it demonstrating it? Hmm? Its primary feature is video... Plus the photo was resized from its original 6.1 megapixels... Which is weird because a high-res one might make us more hopeful on the release date of the M8. Plus, it's a digital camcorder... so there's absolutely no excuse for him not to post a video of it on YouTube. An eight year old could probably do it.

I think that was the whole point from the beginning: to create the perfect (and better) iPhone clone. I couldn't care less if it looks identical to an i-Whatever; it could have an reversed Apple logo on the back and I'd still buy it.

sweet!, I actually think it looks well nice. Nice touch using the vinyl. It's got a minor retro feel. Really like what eico design have done with the interface.

At the end the day the iphone is the most hyped up and popular electronic device in the world right now. The Iphone was the most or one of the most searched words in the world last year on google. No other phone in the world generates the hyssteria that surrounds the iphone. The majority of us all appreciate the brilliance of apples design, yet we also acknowledge the iphones shortcomings.

This is why most of us are interested in the M8, because it is similar in design to an iphone but will have none of the restrictions and will be cheaper.

There will always be people cpomplaining about the look of the interface. However, they have probably never designed an interface from scratch however and don't realise how difficult it is. Icon and tool bar design is an art in it self. Why do people think that the iphone is so reveered? because great design does not come easily, especially great GUI design.

I'm not sure whther another image is really progress, mind you I'm actually very suprised we even got that. Now we just got to wait for another 10 years for it to get released! hahaha

True, true. Not to mention that the 3-button design was way cooler.

Sorry, but this is just not true. tails2 posted a side-by-side comparison over on this thread, and while he more or less shares your opinion, you can just look and see that the space distributions are actually VERY different: The M8 player has a bottom menu and more buttons/options, shows more information, has the "prev"/"next" buttons separated from the "pause", and everything (except the "pause") is in different places... without sacrificing full-screen album art, I don't think one could make a much less similar structure than this already is.
