obviously the front looks ipod touch like due to the black metal trim and single button layout. But the back of it doesn't. If you remember from the cebit photos there is a battery cover and it certainly won't have the smooth back that the touch or the iphone 3G have. The whole back design is completely different in fact. I also think that the 3 buttons looked worse. At the end of the day one button looks crisp and clean, whether apple did it first or not. Putting another 2 buttons really makes no difference IMO, the overall shape colour and slant of the trim will still be very ipod touch like.

Again all these visual perceptions are matters of opinion. Many argue that samsung and LG touch screen phones loook very iphone like. But at what point do things stop being like the iphone and start to tak on a style of their own? The line is very very fine IMO and completely subjective. Also everyone here knows the history and evolution of the M8 and remembers their 'clone like roots' based on the first very clone like renderings. I personally don't think Meizu will ever be able to shake the 'clone' stigma attached to the M8, despite the fact the M8 will run a totally different OS, different components and have different features etc. To the poorly informed, average person who knows nothing about the M8 and it's development the M8 will never be more than a clone.

Now the GUI. I see what your saying about the colour saturation and that the UI does look almost too colourful, kind of cartoon like as compared to the iphones classy refined black bars and opaque controls. But when you look at the side by side shots with the iphone it is obvious that this playback screen does not look like the one on the iphone. The only real similarity I can see is the tracking bar for fast forwarding or rewinding is a circle. IMO the similarities stop there.

This is however very good IMO. Bringing in Eico to design the GUI has meant that the M8 interface now has it's own style, which is different from the iphones. I hope that this playback screen will have slightly better colour continuity with the original home screen shot we have were shown before, but apart form that I think Meizu have done quite well in their efforts to move away form the iphone styling.

The first white colored m8 renderings were really attractive to me. The 3 button / 3 ear hole design + eico UI designing was okay too. I think these most recent pictures aren't too appealing though. What do you guys think?

I believe the video-conferencing camera was canceled, maybe it will come out in the next version?

EDIT: Just go here for the full details.
