Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostSorry, but I can't agree with this. To be correct, "photoshoped" refers to an image that was made/edited on the Photoshop application. At most you could say that it can be used to describe images edited in (similar) picture manipulation applications, but that's not the case for 3D renders - and that makes this thread's title incorrect and misleading.
As a comparison, what would you say if someone said "very nice iPod!" when referring to the M6 (using the word "iPod" to refer to MP3 players in general)?
ON TOPIC:
The renders are really great, the 3D model is detailed and apart from a few details it almost looks real. Whoever did this is quite proficient with 3D modeling and rendering.
However, I never really liked this version of the M8. The currently official one (all-black with the Al-Mg alloy border) is much nicer IMO.
Which brings another thing to mind: does anyone know what was the outcome of that "M8 3 button layout" discussion on the Chinese BBS after CeBIT? I'm under the impression that it's still unclear how the final button layout will be..

Thanks Traps.
On Topic...
The render is okay but I am not too keen on the look to be honest. I like the black version that was released before.
In relation to the 3 button i think they had that finalized as this:

But I prefered a fan mock up that was on here before. this one:

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsBut you quoted me....
Yea, to be correct it refers to an image made using the photoshop application...But the word photoshoped has become a common word to describe any image made (or heavily edited) using a computer. A lot of people wouldn't even know what rendering is (and probably wouldn't care), but they have a general idea that photoshoped would be an image created or edited on a computer.
And onto this whole would you call an M6 an iPod? Well no, most people who are young or use them wouldn't because we have a slight degree of expertise where we can tell the difference. But I can tell you that a lot of old (or less experienced people) people group all MP3 players into the group of being iPods cause they don't know much on the topic. Just the other day I was in a car with a friend and his cousin and my friend's mum was driving, and his cousin was listening to his iRiver (which was in his pocket, all that could be seen was the earphones). And my friend's mum said "Do you know how much his iPod cost?", and my friend corrected her telling her that its an iRivier. Which just goes to show that while we having had experience with iPods would think it's stupid to call all MP3 players iPods, she with little understanding on the topic grouped them. Just like people who have little understanding on photoshopping and rendering etc would easily group all computer image editing and creation into photoshop. At school teachers are always telling us "No iPods allowed at school", it's just become a common would for music players.
Maybe things are different in whatever part of the world you live in though.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post@Skinny101:
Nope, things are not different where I live, unfortunately... iPods are everywhere, and less informed people often group all MP3 players as "iPods", which I find annoying as hell.
That's why I used that example: it's similar if you group 3D renders as "photoshoped" images, with the difference that in fact this was the first time for me seeing that generalization.
@tails2:
Yeah, I remember those images. That's the non-working prototype/mockup Meizu showed at CeBIT.
But afterwards there were many people in the Chinese BBS saying that they didn't like the 3 circular buttons, and JW made a poll to decide if they should change it. This only had one alternative choice which was rejected, so in the next day JW posted another possible alternative. Now what I don't know is if anything was in fact decided, and what is the final button layout.
I also liked that fan mockup better, but according to JW circular/eliptical shapes are mandatory due to limitations in the method used to cut the glass.
On another note, has anyone seen these fan-made mockups?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsyou gotta be kidding the silver and black is very sexy,if this could become the UI,it would be fantastic

I'm not sure about the silver but black would look great imo. Still hoping that they abandon the 3 button idea. Makes me think the UI won't be very professional. iPhone does fine with one button, all the other functions are easily accessed via the touchscreen. Having a seperate button for calling or other functions would just seem awkward and slow things down from a usability standpoint.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsPersonally, I do not see how having more button can make the usability worse once you have a few hours of experience using your phone. As long as additional button do not take screen size away, are not too small or fragile, do not make the device more bulky, and are not so badly positioned that they make accidental click almost inevitable, my preference is to have as much buttons as possible...
Kind of remind me the apple "1-button" mouse that was so great for usability, because of its simplicity, while PC retards were forced to use 3 button (or -shudder- more) mices because they did not get the zen of Job's "less is better".
Turned out one of the most buyed add-on for macs was multi-button USB mouses, and apple finally had to add friggin buttons on their mouses, even if they try to hide them LOL
Back to the m8, instead of removing buttons I would like a side input (jog dial would be best, 2 buttons better than nothing ...) well positioned so that one hand flipping through pages (browser, document reader, photos,...) is easy. I was a good idea and common on older PDA, sad it is much less common nowadays.
Of course no way they add it in the current version (no more delays PLEAAAASE ;-) ), but something to consider for next version and I hope volume buttons will be remapable in some applicationsLast edited by gkai; 07-09-2008 at 07:35 AM.

I actually like the 3 buttons, they're basically a hotkey, which is convenient.

They might be alright, I'm just afriad that things like extra buttons and jog dials might allow the developers to get lazy with the UI.
