OK sere83, we get it: prices in Europe are crazy.
In China, you can easily get an N81 for the price of the 8GB M8 and, as I wrote previously, I guess with some hard-nosed bargaining an N95 for the price of the 16GB M8.
I'm all for the M8 and think Meizu is making a brilliant strategic move, but now they're playing in the company of higher end offerings from Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson and lower end offerings from Dopod (HTC). They better be bringing an A-List user experience and solid reliability to the party....no stuttering allowed
Remember those "poor students" in China are many (most?) of Meizu's biggest customers/supporters: the ones who create the fan art and themes, the ones who analyze every crumb of information and keep the M8 buzz going...and probably the ones who translate Jack Wong's BBS posts for MeizuMe.But reading the chinese forum seems even worse, where (unless the online translator is wrong), people keep whinning about how they can't afford the price because they are studentsLast edited by chengdude; 06-14-2008 at 02:55 PM.

The N95 is a great phone, but it's not in the same league as the Meizu. Different sizes, different capacities.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHigh specs are not enough.
Even with a faster CPU and larger RAM,you can't except that scolling on M8 will more smooth, application execution will more faster, because iPhone have done them excellent enough(It's perfect, what I say).Meizu can't build the so-called Meizu OS to run smooth enough on current hardware wherefore the cpu must be at 800Mhz and RAM must be 256MB.
A 720x480 screen is absolutely amazing, but I don't think it's really practical except to viewing high-resolution pictures. The text/PDF/Word/Excel reading and video playback also run perfectly on the jail broken iPhone, thoughi it can ony playback MP4 with strict parameter(for now,Coreplayer for iPhone is on the way).
On the contrary,App store is a sky-high wall that M8 could never climb over,Programmers could write codes for M8,but M8 will hardly protect their works from cracking, which App store will doing quite well, and the upcoming iPhone 2.0 firmware will challenge RIM on the business battlefield.Last edited by burnfox; 06-16-2008 at 12:00 AM.

quote=DusL "Nobody outside China besides reviewers stand a chance of getting a "alpha" version. Expect both alpha and "beta" versions to be extremely buggy. Still we haven't become any wiser to as when this damn m8 will be released, especially with 2 versions of bugfinding and bugtesting a testversion in front of it. They're not fooling us that a follow-up beta / final is only 1 or 2 months in between, such bugfixing in combination with improved hardware takes time. Also beta/final is heavily delay-prone as we've seen in the past. Sounds like a unreliable investment to buy a alpha/beta. Also it is rediculus Meizu is making consumers pay to use them for testing the device. As for the price it shouldn't come as a shock, it's off-contract so fans will surely pay for the higher price. The old prices were decievingly low for its contents.
But i'm sure someone will manage to twist this news into Meizu-praising."
That's what eBay is for.
burnfox, that's what most Meizu haters say. They say that the Windows CE won't be stable. How do you know? I can't say NOW that it is going to be stable right away because I don't know. But look at the M6. It's not the smoothest, but it's still pretty good.Last edited by SteveMB93; 06-15-2008 at 02:45 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSteveMB93,I'm not talking about stable,I'm talking about performance and efficiency, what are the high specs using for?No one will running a Nuclear-strike simulator something on a phone,If a Pentium MMX inside PC boot up Windows 98 takes 60 seconds, and a dual-core Centrino inside PC boot up Windows Vista also takes 60 seconds, which one has higher performance and efficiency you say?
High specs are good,I don't deny that, but they need to prove their superiority is conspicuous and worthily,it's worthily because they will make Meizu OS running smooth, but will it conspicuous? If Meizu do a better job on Meizu OS development, using current hardware to make everying just perfect,we will not pay another 200 yuan for the effects insignificant hardware update,it's possible, because Apple have done this before.Last edited by burnfox; 06-15-2008 at 03:41 AM.

Listen people, this is not an apple forum. I had an iphone to play with for a few days, and besides looks (which everyone has adopted now anyway), wifi and possibility to install a ton of apps, it's CRAP.
Sound quality is crap even on high quality headphones, the speaker is barely audible, an unlocked/jailbroken iphone requires a software reinstall every few months as it crashes, making you start from zero with all the nice apps you got over time, and it costs what it costs.
I'm still waiting for the M8, and would've bought another M6 to replace my broken one if this damn computer wouldn't have had failures after failures and eaten all my money.
Geez. They should rename MeizuMe to "Iphone spammers forum".

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsOh Th3_uN1Qu3,poor boy(or girl),I have my iPhone for nearly half a year, almost 100 apps installed I guess, and I never reinstall them from zero after "iPhone PC Suite" released, with this tool, the reinstall thing just gone (for ever maybe),even when iPhone stuck on boot (showing Apple logo, often happens after some new app installed),you can easliy plug cable, and use this tool, doing something to repair.
Meizu is just such a small company even in developing China, all of its properties may no match for the profits earned by Apple in a quarter of a year, now with 100 million yuan loan from a commerce bank, what he(J.W) want to do,may not be done.
You may expect M8,just take my advice:don't expect too much,it may hurt.Last edited by burnfox; 06-15-2008 at 05:10 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI think the word your looking for is hack

And the reason why it is necessary to hack the iPhone to put third party apps on is to cover Apple's ass in case you screw it over. Not that it's hard at all to hack the iPhone. Besides, the SDK comes out soon so it won't be necessary to hack it to put third party apps on it.Last edited by Skinny101; 06-15-2008 at 01:06 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsall considered, the M8 is still cheaper than the competition. I thought about waiting for the Samsung i900 before making a decision, but it seems that that too will retail for upwards of $600-700 unlocked, given that the base memory is 8GB (goes up to 16GB). I've decided to get a Samsung Blackjack II for the time being ($100 under contract), and possibly an 8GB microSD ($50) and continue to wait until the M8 comes out; at this stage, I'm under the impression that it would cost Meizu more NOT to release it.
While I've already stated that I won't be getting the 3G Iphone, due to its higher long-term cost, I've also realized that buying unlocked phones by Samsung/Nokia, etc in the US is not feasible, due to the great initial expense and the difficulty involved in selling it later (Ebay is one option, but definitely not as convenient as walking into a streetside store in HK or Bangkok and selling a 6 month old phone for 80% of its retail price.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWhat alternatives? The m8 is the only phone coming close but for some reason my local store doesn't sell it. And yes I waited from the utter beginning, not "giving Apple cash". 18 months, and my local shop still doesn't sell it. Am I a fool for giving the iPhone3G more credit than the M8 after all that time now? At least they produced something, even a improved version next month. iPhone3G versus alpha-version M8?.....

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsUr not the kind of person i was referring to (;
Of course, the IPhone IS a quite nice phone, but i hate those people acting like it was the best ever (for example the sound quality would be so nice, wich it isn't)
And its just nonsene to say feg. that meizu could never create such a smooth UI, why do u think that guys?
At all, I'm not the one who would buy a M8 if its a piece of shit, but i give meizu a chanceLast edited by M47Z; 06-15-2008 at 07:04 PM.
Be aware!
One day the M8 will come
