You're making it sound like people who do not care about a removable battery are idiots or something. I honestly don't care whether I can remove it or not, never had to replace one before. So there you have it, 3G/internal-GPS is more useful to me.

Did find out one thing. The New "I" will have a new plan starting at $70 instead of the previous $60. I may try to get into this early if possible as I can claim materially adverse financial change in the contract and Bingo no contract & free phone, I love ATT!

Hey Steve although a removable battery would be nice I don't really need that more than the 3g speed or SMS/Visual email and WiFi. So again all to their own on these matters.
M8 would seriously miss the boat without 3g though! Great screen and camera are nice but no 3g and possibly no WiFi is scary to me.

I have a 3G phone, with GPS, etc. When I switch on GPS, the battery is empty after about 1 1/2 hours (and I'm sure if I really would push my phone I could get the full battery empty in about 30 minutes). Sure, technology has advanced, but I would be surprised that you get more than lets say 6 hours out of the new iPhone when you use that thing. Sure, with some phone that does like a week of usage, you don't need to change the battery. But with something like the iPhone, it surely would be nice to be able to actually use the thing by bringing along a few batteries. Changeable batteries are something great with phones that last for less than a day of usage.

No Wi-FI what are you talking about? The M8 will have Wi-Fi. The new iPhone 1.5 can not be bought online, and you must agree to the 2 year contract before you buy it (well before you leave the store). You know what's funny? When the iPhone came out, everyone starting saying that non-removable batteries were fine. If it were a company that WASN'T Apple, they would have condemned that company.

I am not making them look like idiots. You did not understand my post. I said that because most, if not all, phones have a removable battery. After 1 year passes, you'd have to pay Apple $80 for a new battery. On a phone with a removable battery, you can get higher capacity batteries for cheap, nowhere near $80.

I would like to know how many phones you have owned in your life, and how long you've had them that you haven't had to replace the battery. You must not use your phones much. Plus, if you're a business person and you travel a lot, you can carry another battery in your bag.

The new iPhone has a cheaper looking back now (plastic), plus it's glossy which makes it look even cheaper. The whole thing is a fingerprint magnet. I liked the first gen aluminum back.

I like this new version much more than the previous one (which didn't look very good IMHO). They reduced that ugly stainless steel trim, and gave a much less boring shape to the back cover.. I think it looks very futuristic now.

But yeah, you have a point about it looking cheap. I guess that glossy plastic back will not remain glossy for very long... I give one day inside a pocket full of keys

    1. Yeah if you buy from ATT you have to activate there. If you buy from APPLE you do not have to activate at all. Again Iwould like a removable battery as I do travel extensively as my job in in the Travel Ind. Istill have yet to hear people crying about it being a year now and their phones battery is worthless. Again that was hype put out my complete idiots that were just looking for a fight.

Actually I have seen replacement batteries for the "I" and there not that hard to fix according to the many many video references on youtube.

I have owned 19 phones to date. Started with my first bag phone "NovaTel" Worthless POS broke after a week. I've had pannys, pantech, nokias, motos, sony, lg, palm, htc, a Prada(sucked) blackberry 8830 (still use for work) and an 8700 series before it. Actually for the last two years I have carried a little parta charger (plugs in and boosts away to full charge, swappable tips) and I carry my laptop with me every where as well with a handy usb charge cord.

I kinda dig the white myself, but that is a personnal thing.

Again I am waiting for the M8 as you are I just want a toy in the mean time. Again $200 or $300 big whoop. I can make my money back easily if the M8 is everything it is claimed to be. Again this is a personal preference thing. I am not hating on the M8 nor anyone here I just can't stand waiting around for who knows how long without getting my tech loving fingers on something new. Heck even after the M8 I'll switch it within 4-6 months to the other newest flavor unless it really blows my mind.

Not true, you have to activate it at either store. You can't just buy it without activating the 2 year contract.

iPhone 3G purchase and activation will be in-store only - Engadget

You have to have a soldering iron and soldering experience. If you have both of those, then it would be easy once you open it. I certainly don't have a soldering iron.

That question wasn't even aimed at you...

Again, the main problem with not having a removable battery is that you can't just simply pop in another battery when your battery is dead. Huge advantage. My phone came with 2 batteries and a dock where you could charge phone and spare battery at the same time, because Motorola knew that battery life is crap. The iPhone is similar in battery life but you are FORCED to use only one battery? Heck, make it an option if you want to ripp off people, but make it possible to exchange the battery.
