yes it does seem like a strange thing to say straight after he said it would be available in August. Perhaps like Err0r says he is responding to someone or he is saying it sarcastically. Sunless says he is speaking confidently implying he thinks it will be recieved well.
'once we show it at the qingdao show then well see whether or not to give it up! ;-)'
(I have put the winking face to emphasise how I think it is being said).
as in he is thinking people are going to really like it. I do not think they would put in all this effort then just give up!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'm glad they decided to do the new GUI, it was only after buying an iPod touch myself I realised how much the old GUI was ripped off from Apple. With that I mean just about completely.
I'm sure we're all hoping for a nice GUI now.iPhone 3G 16 GB
Firmware 2.2.1 jailbroken

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostI think some of u misunderstand the news, im sorry for the poor translation,
J.wong said that we can decide to give up M8 after the Qingdao exhibition, but actually it means that J.wong will never give up M8, and he also will not make us give up M8(because he won't let us down), i cann't not translate it clearly, so sorry for that!

Thanks for clearing that up Sunless. All I can say is I wish Mr Wong All the best and I hope the M8 is a great sucess. Despite all the delays I always get the impression from his quotes that Mr Wong really cares about the m8 project and he is putting his company and livelihood on the line to deliver and complete what has clearly been a long, difficult and costly process.
At the end of the day Meizu could have easily gone the root of making cheap clones, or sub standard mp4 players like so many other Chinese manufacturers. But instead they have tried to make a quality device which will actually incorporate a number of features and functions no other phones on the market have.
Just because people are so used to the speed with which large western/japenese/south korean corporations bring new well polished devices to market, they forget how difficult this project must have been for a small company like Meizu. Devoting a whole companies resources to just one project is almost unheard of. I think we have actually been quite lucky to get an insight into the R&D process that goes into making these types of devices from Mr Wong. You would never ever get this from companies like apple, microsoft, sony or samsung.Last edited by sere83; 05-10-2008 at 03:41 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIn fairness you can't compare the resources that Meizu has to other large corporations. Other corporations have many more resources dedicated to only that project and i'm sure the size of the large corp resources greatly surpass Meizu's. Secondly I am sure they are using all their resources as many have been waiting a long time for this product so I'm sure Mr. Wong is trying to get his project actuaclly released into the market.
If everything goes to plan as stated we can hopefully see this M8 out later this year, he stated August but I believe it will be around Christmas as things never go smoothly but the upside many people will be happy getting an M8 for Christmas

Thanked 19 Times in 19 PostsYou get some small news from me instead. Unfortunately I have never imaging you all should get some news about the M8 from me.
I do in these talk with guy from Meizu Technology Co., Ltd about the stutter issue we all fight on the M6. He was so happy for my information and support he suddenly gave me a release date of the coming Mini One Mobil Phone (M8).
He would really say thank you for all Meizu fans.
So I might ask you all now! Do want to hear a release date from the world’s best source?
But trust me, I don't make any fun.
But it’s not in August, unfortunately what he did say to me.

no offence or anything but why should we trust you? why would meizu tell you if they have told no one else? Mr Wong himself said on the Chinese forum that it would be August, I personally couldn't trust anyone else as I don't even completely trust Mr Wong himself!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWhatever...
As Sere said, Wong didn't confirm that so we have no reason to believe you.
I hope they won't move the release date further ad further by each month.
