    how will the navigation work, if it will be not a native windows mobile system? it will be impossible to install TOMTOM with all the maps you have, because the system will not match? i hope you understand what i mean.

    It WILL be Windows CE, and so there are hundreds of navigation softwares you can install on (;

    Maybe, but it is impossible to be sure as no Windows CE 6 PDA is availble now. I also hope there will be backward compatibility, or even better, forward (or transversal) compatibility once Windows Mobile 7 (based on CE 6) is out and installed on new PDA/smartphones. This will ensure a LARGE collection of apps for the m8, imho it will make the m8 a sound buy for me . On the other hand, if there is no compatibility, neither with Windows mobile 6 or 7, I will not buy it, except if Meizu open it and android can replace their custom CE 6.
    A meizu-only device is not viable imho, while one that is compatible with WinMo6/7 or android (or, even better, both) is very usefull even if Meizu do not stand behind it (if it is not so buggy as to be unusable).

    If I had to make a guess, given the limited info I have and my experience running apps targeted to WinMo 5 on WinMo 6 devices, I would say that it will be a mixed bag: most apps will works, many times with quirks linked to the special screen (720x480 is very uncommon a rsolution...) and input methods (stylus oriented UI will be difficult to drive with finger, lack of DPAD and 4 buttons), while some apps will not work at all.

    A while ago I bought a windows CE powered GPS unit without any navigation software on it. I searched for iGo for PNA 2007 (not PDA) and it worked perfectly. It did not need any installation because the .exe file ran right from the SD card. This makes me think that it will be the same procedure to run it on the M8.

    I'm sure someone will hack it so you could put Windows Mobile on it.

    How's the m6 rockbox hackproject coming along btw? I don't understand a thing of the technical jargon used there.
