Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWow, The I-Phone is a Rumor, OK then.
I will agree that until the I-Phone 2.0 is released and the M8 is released all of this is speculation at best. I do not agree with your cost structure for the phone in question as the again I have family who works for AT&T and my understanding of what is being discussed is not in correlation with your information. Yes again my understanding you actually will be able to purchase without a contract just as you could and still can with the original.
ANYWAY,
All of our arguments are moot until viable, physical, working products are delivered to the masses. Again I have and still do want an M8. I just want something else until that happens. I have gone thru 7 phones in a years time. The Prada, The N95, The HTC units reg and touch versions, the treo's 700 and 750 series and the Blackberry. I am looking for something that possess many of the functions of all of these units.
If you look at the N'Vidia designed architecture in their phone and the HTC Diamond and could merge those with many of the expectations from the M8 and the the gui of the I-Phone and business savvy of the Blackberry you would have a world domination unit in one.
When will that happen who knows.
Will I still like many others here wait to see what Meizu offers, HELL YES!!!!!
Again though if opportunity presents itself though why would I or others not give something else a chance until it happens?
At this I will leave things at bay. I will not interject any more Monetary issues or rumor mill speculation until we see what is actually delivered and when. I ask the same of some of you.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThey haven't set a release date for the iPhone 2 but I don't think that makes it a rumour.
The iPhone 2 is definitely in development, Apple has added a new 3G on/off setting to the new 2.0 iPhone firmware which hasn't been released yet but it has been leaked (which is where the setting was found). Obviously the current iPhone doesn't have 3G so it's not for it. I'm guessing from this that the iPhone and iPhone 2 will both be using the same firmware (just as the iPod Touch and iPhone use the same firmware at the moment).
uh, just found where I read about that.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostWell, the new setting in Firmware 2.0 is a very strong hint about a 3G iPhone 2, but was it officially announced yet? And what about an officially announced release date? Even if there's every bit evidence about the 3G iPhone, until Apple itself comes out and announces it we'll be just speculating. What do we really know about it's looks, price, features, release date, availability, etc.?
You can also say that the M8 is definitely in development, so darkado's comparison in calling both M8 and iPhone 2 rumors is not unbalanced.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI was just saying that it's not just a rumour, there is evidence behind it (the firmware I mentioned in the previous post). You don't need to know about it's features, looks, release date etc to make it a real development, I don't think they want to say anything about it just yet for two reasons, one being the current iPhone is still making sales and if they announce the next one people might decide to wait for that rather than buying the current one. But also that not announcing a release date means they don't have to stress/rush/do a half assed job if they run into any delays with the development and they don't have to stick to their originally planned specs. Just my view though.

Well, whatever...
All this talk about the M8 being "huge" in China makes me wonder, OK, how "huge"? Maybe Meizu only needs to sell a small X number of M8s to be profitable, but the most interesting thing for me is the scale of comparison to the companies that currently dominate the mid- to upper-end of the mobile phone market in China.
Will Meizu for them just be an annoying fly buzzing around? Will Meizu steal away a chunk of the fashionable & tech-savvy market? Is the China market big enough so it doesn't really matter?
I'm also curious about Meizu's plans for distribution. Currently their distribution is a minor speck compared to those other companies. You can buy mobile phones from the Big 3 in department stores, electronics retailers, appliance superstores, computer malls, China Telecom retail shops, and online. Years and years -and more money than God- spent building brand equity and image among Chinese consumers. Meizu? Passionate fan base and good image, but pretty much only available in some stalls in computer malls and online. It really is an almost laughable comparison.
Everyone debates the whole David vs. Goliath argument between Meizu and Apple. Don't forget in China the Goliaths are Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and Samsung/Anycall. Granted, none really do the media-player-that-also-happens-to-be-a-phone thing, so it'll be interesting to see just how big the market for that kind of device really is.
Anyway, as I said, I guess Meizu will be OK as it's all a matter of scale...but interesting from a marketing point of view nonetheless.
