Hey guys. This weekend I sat down and thought longingly of the m8... the touch screen, the wifi, accelerometers, great GUI.. and I had an idea. The problem we meizu fans have is that we want a great touchscreen phone with all the features of the iphone but without the sim lock and os limits. And so it suddenly dawned on me what I had to do. Buy an iPhone! Seriously. They can be unlocked in 4 minutes and jaolbroken at the same time! And the cost of the thing, well, look on ebay, you can get them for £260 with delivery and unlock it yourself. So as I sit here, writing this post on my iPhone, it is not to degrade the m8, and it is not to announce my loss of intesst on this site, it is just to inform you that there is a solution. And if like me you can't sleep for thinking of a touchscreen phone, then why not try the iphne?
I shall still follow this forum religiously! And I still like my m6!
Thanks for Reading, just my two cents.Last edited by thestrangestick; 04-09-2008 at 12:15 AM.

I can see where your coming from, and believe me I have considered getting an iphone on many ocassions. In fact after reading a rumour today on engadget that they may have found a clue in the iphone 2.0 firmware to suggest the type of 3G chip that will be used in the 2nd gen iphone, I started thinking even more that I may get one. However, eventually I end up coming to the same conclusion...wait for the M8. The reason why I say this is really only based on a few simple yet crucial functions the M8 will have that the iphone won't. These are, drag and drop file transfer, xvid video support, tv-out, USB-OTG and removable battery. I really enjoy my video and I have wanted a device that can read my xvid films and series without conversion (that is also highly portable) for so long and the M8 seems like the only thing on the horizon that will really have the power to do this as well as portability. I also hate itunes and would love to be able to play clips, films and series using the tv-out function when I'm away from home. Also with usb-otg and the rapidly falling prices of flash memory keys (32gb is under £100! now), storage stops being an issue. Not to mention a removable battery, which effectivly means unrivalled battery if you carry a spare (or 3). Having the option of only having to carry one (cheap) device for all my video/audio/phone and internet needs just seems to attractive to pass up. I always watch the iphones progress carefully and may still get one at some point in the future but on paper the M8 definitely seems like a better option for me. I just prey that it actually works well.

Bye! I hope you don't have any hardware problems. If you do, you're screwed. I also hope you enjoy your non removable battery.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsFeatures that M8 will trump iphone (and maybe version 2 as well) and will never be supported by Apple
1) rmvb support is a killer feature.
2) support for all other video/audio format without conversion or using itunes.
3) truly open source development, not like the restricted Apple SDK
4) USB-Host / OTG for quick and easy file transfers to/from USB storage or powered hard drives
only feature i'll be waiting for is the 3G/3.5G version.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'm not sure the M8 will be truly open source. Jack Wong said it'll get an SDK too, when it's out and one can only wonder how much it'll let one do. Don't think the Meizu OS will be opened up...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThat's not a solution, that's a workaround. What you really want is the M8.

Anyway, I agree with others here. There are at least 3 things I absolutely cannot live without:
- USB mode
- OGG/Vorbis support
- iTunes independent (which is kind of like a combination of the other 2)
My M6 gives me ecactly that. An Clix2 would do the trick as well, though I haven't seen any of those in the shops. Nor have I seen where you can buy the miniplayer in Finland (I used to live in the Netherlands).
However, I'm not likely to buy the M8 anyway.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsLOL. I'm still recommending the m8 to all my friends! And whilst I agree that iTunes is annoying , it isn't so bad. It only took seconds to get album art for all my songs and sure, converting video is a pain but we all do it anyway with our m6 and if you are like me your pc is porbably on a lot so what difference does of make. The iphone has got tv out, and all the other features listed I don't really need. A great fanbase is always useful for any device, and therefore apps on both the m8 and the iPhone aren't a problem. Mbarry, you have serious attitude problems, all you ever do on this forum is complain so don't tell me goodbye, just by an iPhone or iPod touch or jut get a litle more patient. Unfrtunately I'm not patient, and my student account has suffered as a result!

Why would he be screwed? You get something called warrenty with your iphone you know. Also, what exactly is your problem with a device not having a removable battery? The m6 has no removable battery? Nothing wrong with that from my point of view. I can't imagine carrying battery packs for my m6 (m8 for that matter) around me permanently.
@thestrangestick: congrats with your buy -> which ebay-seller sells those iphones for so cheap? :D Got a touch already though.Last edited by DusL; 04-09-2008 at 02:15 PM.

Key features for me, that place the miniOne over the iPhone:
- price!,
- windows (with that stylish cursor),
- the 3.2 mpix camera,
- 3g with videocalls and fast internet
- wifi (allright allright iPhone has it too),
- normal drag and drop usb and bluetooth
- usb otg
- and many more
edit: - oh right and the insane 3,4" (or 3,5"?) screen at 720x480
And I don't want a touchscreen phone, I want a good phone.Last edited by Pytak; 04-09-2008 at 02:07 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWanna know why I excited to wait for the M8 and not to buy the iPhone now?
It's because I want to ive smaller companies a chance and not to be on the Apple-Mainstream, and I think Meizu does a great shoop (;
Meizu DOES offer better products than apple for a lower price and I'm shure that the M8 will be awesome.

Digg - Australian iPhone release info revealed!
If this turns out to be true and if the price stays at the same level as the first iPhone, I think I'm going to end up getting myself a 3g version of ebay someday.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsExactly, thankyou. By the time this battery goes to an unusable state, I will probably be the proud owner of a Meizu10 - batteries aren't designed to conk out immediately you know? And for any that say this phone is inferior to the M8- this phone was released almost one year ago, and its still the best phone on the market - if you can't recognise that then I'm afraid you have a spot of jealousy - it's awesome! i was always skeptical about it's quality but it rules. I mean, I can access Tversity, and stream videos/music to my phone from downstairs when I'm in bed! I can use the BBc iPlayer, watch movies etc - this phone is good, and if meizu pull off the iPhone's features and more, it will be just as good. However, all these 'benefits' of the M8 I am not concerned about - the res of the iPhone is already very good, I don't care about that extra 180 - the average joe can't tell the difference!

Well if you want the iPhone to be worth the money you spent on it, you'd probably unlock it. That voids you warranty. There's a difference between the M6 not having a removable battery and the iPhone not have a removable battery. The iPhone is a... phone. Almost every phone has a removable battery. If you're one that uses the phone a lot, and you can't just buy a new battery and swap the old one out, it certainly won't be good. I'm sure some people would like to carry an extra battery in there bag, but I don't think many people would do that. But when your battery is losing it's charge, you can't just buy a new one and swap it out.
"Lol I'd call the GUI superior, don't want to burst your bubble there. Also you can't compare a phone that has been out for almost a year to a new upcoming phone which isn't out yet -> looks a bit unfair don't you think?"
The 16GB iPhone came out in February.
