Yeah I've seen this a few days ago, it's quite nice, but nothing new because the prototype also used these icons

They changed the phone and movie icon :D

Seen it a few days ago as well, looks nice but it's only the homescreen-iconset.

Honestly I don't care what they look like if you can install themes on the m8 btw.

Not simple enough... it's so... uh, Chinese? I like it much more simplified... one color etc.

IMHO: They really should make it themable (fully!) - not like the Sony Ericsson smartphones (I own one). And some of the icons looks pretty familiar to the one from SE. Meizu should blame EICO for this.

And: I do not like these icons! Hopyfully you can exchange them with others. Maybe meizu shoud have a look on one of the many freeware sites...

I saw these last week, and I thought they were pretty nice. However, these are mostly the same icons used on the CeBIT prototype. The only differences are the phone icon (which was an old one at the time of CeBIT), and the Meizu and Movie icons which got worse IMO (I hope they use the CeBIT versions for those).

Anyway, the quality of EICO design studios is undeniable, and the fact that they have worked with bigger companies in the past (Lenovo, for example) speaks for itself. Let's see what they do with the rest of the M8 UI.

These Icons just don't look smooth to me...

For example the colors:
Why the hell are they using different colors?
Make them all in one color style like blue and green.
But not the camera white, the note green, the document yellow, the calculator red....

This is what a good design should have: A certain individual style!

Ever since I saw this picture I've been wondering why the Earth is like that.

Where is Northern Europe and when did Africa look like that?

That's just the view of the rest of the world, in the eyes of the Chinese population

And no, Australia isn't that close to Africa....

I don't really care if the globe actually resembles George W Bush! I just don't like the way the Meizu logo isn't the right shape..

Personally i think these icons look a little novice , And too.....I dont know how to describe it , SUSE'ish (Or what id classify as a SUSE-linux style icon). Heck theyll be fine though. Its only icons.

Fo example , The SMS icon... A empty speach bubble , I could mock somthing exactly like that up on 10 mins(Im sure anyone could) , It isnt atall innovative. I dont want to just criticize. I guess the icons look alright. But they are not mindblowing as to what id expect from a reputable company like EiCO.

Aslong as its user skinable then we will see some amazing themes for the device , I really hope they do some work to the core of the system , There is only so much a theme can cover up, EG , integration of the multitouch interface needs to be perfected , and use of the buttons. So the system is smooothe and flawless , And you dont have to wait 10 secconds for the music player to load up, That to me is far far more important than a good skin.

I have to disagree with some people, I actually quite like the icons. I'm not mad about the claculator one or the wierd positioning of the countries on the globe icon Err0r mentioned, but they seem nice all the same, I particularly like the camera one it looks very smooth and crisp. I never liked the way all the iphone icons are they same shape, they look way too uniform and uninspiring. I like the fact the M8 ones are very colourful and are different shapes it is far more interesting than the boring icons you find on samsung phones for example. Obviously user themes would be amazing and I hope it happens. Each person has their own opinion so there is no right answer, but I have always likes most of the GUI designs for the M8, I also like the icon set from a while back I have as my avatar. I agree with Lite though, Icons are far less important than it actually working well and all the features being well implemented.
