When a natural habit, do not care about good or bad.

Hopefully there will be an editable resource file so we can make custom skins...

Talking EICO design to do the final M8 UI artwork?

Seems that Meizu will give the final M8 UI artwork to EICO Design, the same professional designers that made the beautiful Home icons.
From what I could gather on the original thread J.Wong just wants to get the general functional layout ready first, so that EICO can concentrate on the artwork:

The following is quoted in the 2008-3-19 19:45:00 J. Wong statement:

ui部分我们把框架交互做好后,也会尝试让他们做美化(他们只做美术部分).
Ui part of the framework of interaction we do a good job, so that they will try to do landscaping (they only art).

(can someone please go there a make a translation? did I get a completely wrong idea?)

Regarding EICO, I went ahead and looked at some of their works, and they seem to be quite competent designers. I'm looking forward to the final result! :D

Hehehe.. I'm not surprised either :P

But I'm very pleased with these news. These guys will probably make a killer-looking UI

And unlike what many say, the UI is very important to the overall user experience.. and M8 needs a great looking and unique interface if it is to compete with products like the iPhone! Rushing out with an amateurish iPhone-inspired UI could cripple it's probability of success, and waste all the time and money that Meizu invested in R&D.

Improving the UI should not make the M8 take longer either, since the people doing it are not the same ones fixing OS bugs, developing the multi-touch software, or testing the new 6410 chips. The miniOne release should not take much longer now (the rumors seem to indicate August 8) and any efforts to polish the UI in the meantime are very positive IMO.

Whatever is the case, I'm quite sure Meizu doesn't wanna waste any time, so if they are improving the UI, that probably means that they have the time it takes and it's important. If it wasn't, they wouldn't do it after all!
