Thanks for the picture, I just called to Germany, it is true that MP3 MODELS do exist in this expo, and incured everything.

我之前一再跟我司相关人员强调此次参展只展示m8.现在却节外生枝.对此我很恼火,今天我们的展台已经正常 并继续展示m8...
I've told all the relative member again and again to take only M8 to expo, but there are still exceptions, and we will go on doing the show of M8.

关于目前m8的ui主要是为了功能展示而用,最终量产会有所改变,力求和iphone更大的差 异化.
and the current ui of m8 is just made for function demo, it will changed while the final version comes out, we are doing our best to distinguish m8 from iPhone.

但m8外观不会改变,现在展示的工程样机外观和量产的仅颜色和质感以及工艺水平不一样而已.
but the outside of m8 will not change any more, the diffirences between prototype and mass produced one are just color and technique levels.

no, I have emphasized that only m8 can be show on the expo. especially. ella is my sister (may be the miss wong, the girl in video?), she may want to do more better things for me, so took some mp3 models, hah.... not good

还好m8仍在继续展出,现在我们珠海总部已经可以装出包括触摸在内的能更全面展示的工程样机,等过几天或者 我们可以亲自拍个视频演示给大家看看.
but fortunately, m8 is still shown on exo, and now the ZhuHai HQ(haha) have made up the full function prototype will touch screen, and I will show the video made by me few days latter.

1,单键和iphone太象了,虽然国外也有其他手机品牌象iphone,但似乎中国品牌必须做出更大的差 异化才能得到更多的认可.
1. single button is too similar to iphone, however some of foreign mobile phones looks like iPhone, but it seems that chinese brand have to do more diffirent effort to gain the approval from others.

2,3键连体,这3个键是平常使用率最高的机械键,这样做一样会影响使用手感.现在的设计手感棒极了 .
2. the 3 buttons, in fact, are made as a whole, for the 3 keys are most frequently used, it is may not good for user experience while using according to your design(another design from others). And it is great feeling at the moment.

3,除圆和椭圆外其他形状的按键,因为表面是坚固的玻璃,要在上面打不规则形状工艺很难做好.
3. except for circle and ellipse, cause it is glass surface that makes difficulty for create irregular shapes of buttons.

4,触摸按键,这3个键也同时充当激活的功能,采用触摸键不但会丧失这个功能,而且由于机器下部分是握手的 地方,触摸按键误操作的几率非常高.
4. about touch keys, the 3 button will be used as activation keys, if we use touching keys it will lost such functions. besides that, the bottom part of machine is for holding, miss operation rate is pretty high.

所以现在的按键方案是最合适的,当然工艺做好了因为按键和表面是平的,所以3个环并不明显,并且按键上的标 识颜色将加深,减少颜色反差度.
That's why I thing the solution at the present is the best, and the mass producing technique will give you 3 totaly flat buttons, so you will not see the 3 cirles on surface. we will darken identify color for buttons to decrease contrast to color of buttons.

我用过多款lg的触摸按键很不方面,即使现在的iphone打电话也很不方便,m8至少比iphone打电 话的时候少2~3个动作
I have used lots of lg touch-key production, that really inconvenient, and I do feel that dialing on iphone is inconvenient, too. you will do less actions(2-3) while dialing with m8 than iphone.

还有楼上说的对,批量m8按键的缝很小,而且是平的,这样美观度会提高很多
and you are right, the crack between keys and body will be very tiny when mass production, and they are flat, more pretty.

come on don't focus on keys only(better focus on global design of machine), we tried before, but looks not good, you can try it with photo process software.

虽然今天展会已经正常展出,但我还是决定明天开始我们德国的参展人员将撤回珠海,不再继续展出 .
Meizu booth goes on its show today, but we decide to call back our team to ZhuHai, and the expo will not go on next day.

此次展出目的已经达到了,接下来我们要做的就是尽快完善m8并推出市场.
we have achieved our goal, and what need to do next is to better m8 and put it into market ASAP.

恩,是的,参展目的已经达到,况且我司参展工作人员身体也不舒服,我已经通知他们明天撤回珠海,另外要澄清 一点的是目前m8的ui主要是为了功能展示而用,最终量产会有所改变,并和iphone有很大 差别.
yes, we have made the goal, and our expo team member is not comfortable for healthy problem, I've noticed them leave for Zhuhai. another thing need to clear up is ui of m8 is for function demo only, it will be some changes in the final version and significant differed from iPhone.

这次参展主要的目的就是要告诉大家m8是真实存在的,并离上市不远了.
and the goal for this expo is to tell people, m8 REALLY EXISTS and Not Long from the day to be sold.

虽然现在要再去改按键外观有点麻烦,但只要m友要求强烈,我们还是会去努力改变,按键除了要考虑美观也要考 虑实用性和易操作以及制作工艺
it is a bit trouble to change outlook, but if all of Meizu fans need we will change it with full effort. While changing button design it still need to think more about practical feelings, techniques and if it is easy to use.

01的方案是3键连体的,多少会影响按键手感,01方案3键分开工艺很难做好.

不会有蓝光,因为厚度不够做,只有2mm厚给按键整个机构的空间,下面就是铝板了,再下面就是 显示屏了
sorry, not blue light at all, cause there is not enough room left for it. there only 2mm deep for buttons in our layout, and aluminium board below buttons then screen.

all sounds very exciting, can anyone tell me if there is a high-resolution image of the screen, so i can see how sharp the images of it are? becouse i want to know how the 720*480 will look on the m8 screen.

It should look great: I have an WinCE device with VGA screen slightly larger than the m8 in front of me, with 65000 colors, and I can not see individual pixels when I am 25cm from the screen or more. Antialiased font look almost as good as printed paper...

m8 screen have a slightly higer res (720*480 instead of 640*480), far more colors (supposed to be full 3*8 bit screen, so 16 millions colors) and should use the same antialiasiang (cleartype) as my device (they both have WinCE inside, maybe the m8 will be even better as its version of the microsoft mobile OS is newer). So for the m8, I would expect text as crisp as on (good) paper ;-)

Trust me, the resolution should be no problem at all, DPI is high enough so you will never be bothered by pixels except if you put the screen 10 cm from your eyes, which is not comfortable for most of peoples.

Very different from QVGA screens (340*200) which are not crisp enough for me, especially for reading. I never saw any iPhone screen, but I saw a palm tungsten T5 which is also HVGA (480*320) on a slightly larger screen than the iPhone. I would say that the jump in visual quality is bigger from QVGA to HVGA than from HVGA to VGA...So the iPhone screen already have an acceptable resolution imho...But VGA is by no way an overkill, my VGA screen is noticeably better than the HVGA T5, especially when trying to fit an internet page on the screen using small fonts...

Now back to the m8 screen, what would be more insteresting is backlight luminosity and uniformity, color reproduction, and viewing angle...but those are difficult to check from a video or picture, we will have to see the m8 ni real life to judge this I am affraid...

Very nice news about the SDK and I'm pretty surprised Jack Wong just offered the fans a chance at design! That's very nice of him, although here it just comes out how little one can change looks of a screen only device The final version with hardly noticable button edges should look quite pretty I'm guessing.

Yes, this is no big deal and I would gladly exchange further refinement on button design for an M8 being released sooner ;-)
What would be nice, though, would be a sideroler like on some PDA: I read quite a lot of ebooks, and side control are easier for flipping through the pages, better than using a shortcut on buttons under the screen or gesture on the touchscreen: it allows easy control with one hand only (one-hand navigation is also possible with the screen or bottom buttons if your thumb is agile, but you get cramps doing so ;-) )

BTW, given that the m8 is WinCE based, I was not too worried about an m8 SDK, because WinCE 6 come with a generic SDK that should be almost complete and allows to write apps for any WinCE 6 platform (including the future Windows mobile 7). I think the m8 SDK is hooks to the UI customization written by meizu, to make the live of programmers more easy if they want to integrate more nicely with m8 UI style.

Quite different from the iPhone, where you can not write apps at all (except simple javascript ones) if Apple do not provide an SDK for its device...

about the screen on the previous page. psp's 4.something inch screen has a resolution of 480x272 and it look much, much better than 2.4 inch qvga screen on nokia n73. so meizu's screen should be great.

Aye, I suppose the screen will be amazing. I have a 2.8" 320x208 screen, which is ok for ebooks, the M8 should be wow.

For me it would be important that you can dimm the backlight a lot... it is supposed to work automatically, I hope that works well. When reading in bed at night you don't want to be blinded by the screen, so it should be very dimm. Hopefully too, black will be pretty black.

Thats how the light sensor works. When there is a lot of light around, the sensor notices and turns the brightness up. When it is in a dark place it turns the back light down to low.

Yep, but the question is how dim the backlight may be. On my Motorola phone it is very variable, on my navigation system even the darkest setting is too bright.
