It's Time We Got Serious And Gave Up on The M8
After todays news about the M8 no show at Cebit I hate to say it but I think it's time we got serious and gave up on the M8 at very least for the near/not so distant future (until 2009). You have to look at the facts. To date there has been:
NO pictures of a real model (not a plastic dummy)
NO videos of a real model
NO reports of any person who has touched or seen a real M8
NO pictures of a working interface
NO videos of a working interface
NO videos of any working electronic parts
NO concrete evidence that the GUI/Hardware is anywhere near completion (apart from perhaps a few posts by the CEO on the Chinese forum)
NO release date (only vague speculation about 'Q3' or 'second half of the year')
At the end of the day Nokia have already shown working prototypes of their S60 touch interface which they say will not even be released until 2009. The same with other companies and products, who at least have working prototypes for 2009 models. It takes quite a while to bring a product to market even after it's completion. If Meizu cannot even show any evidence that there is a working version of the M8 at this stage I find it very hard to believe we will see it before 2009 (if at all). They have continually missed oportunities, made excuses, and mislead their customers and fans. It has been well over a year since it's announcment and still nothing. To be honest I have now lost a lot of faith in their abilities to bring this phone to market this year (if at all). I hate to say it but I think the M8 is 90% hype. We have to be realistic, the facts are here for everyone to see. Hoping and wishing means nothing when there is not even a shred of concrete evidence to suggest the M8 will come out by the end of 2008 (if at all).Last edited by sere83; 03-03-2008 at 04:01 PM.

May the force be whit the M8(offending and huge images are inacceptable, especially in signatures)

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI too gave up on the M8, I waited and waited and nothing untill the point I said forget it and went out to buy an iphone and to be totally honest I'm loving it.
M8 looks like a really nice phone but realistically when it comes out all the other cell phone companies will have their on models out by the looks of it.
I've had my iphone for 6 months now, and the M8 might have a couple more features but the thing is I have the iphone in my possesion and using it on a daily basis, and even though i'm not an apple fan, I have to admit it has to be the best phone I have ever had, my only complaint is that there is no Java but it's just a matter of time before someone develops something for it (3rd party)
It's taking Meizu so long to release this thing, just makes me wonder on the quality if they can't even get a working prototype to show, and makes me wonder how buggy it might be and how long it will take to fix the bugs because as we all know everything new has bugsLast edited by bcmiguel; 03-03-2008 at 04:41 PM.

I guess all of those pictures of the motherboards are fake?
-

no one said the motherboard pictures were fake. A picture of a motherboard is not a real picture of an actual working phone itself.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI would not say it does not exist, but the delay is beyond even the most pessimist's expectations. To put this simply Meizu have failed massively to deliver on all their promises.
I am of the opinion that if, and when they deliver the M8, it will be too late. With so many companies working on touch-based phones Meizu is quite simply too late in the game, despite being one of the first to announce.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsMay I remind you that the GUI was supposed to be done like 6 months ago?
May I also remind you that the "m8-units (read: hardware)" were supposed to be done at the end of last year?
Lol, even I could photoshop that.ZTE Blade

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsLol, i'm not bothering looking up all the links again.
I could photoshop the GUI, trust me :P Use the program often enough.
Concerning the mobo's Wong clearly used the plural form (units..), you know, in the manner of hardware production being entirely done. A plastic thingie 2 months overdue wasn't exactly what I expected.
Just the existance of a mobo doesn't mean anything. What kind of conclusion could you get from that except they produced "something" and the project may or may not be discontinued in the future? What other meaning does it have?ZTE Blade

You're right. It's time we give up. I can't believe I've been waiting since Winter of 2006. I might go for a Nokia N95. It has plenty of features and is considered the "Swiss Army Knife" of cell phones.
