DVB-T in the MiniOne

I am very happy to see such a flow of information through this forum about this device, with CeBit coming and real motherboards posted, this thing seems like its finally taking off! I was interested to erad about a 'DVB-T' function, and would like to know what it would mean for the M8. I always associated DVB-T with Digital Tv, like Freeview in the Uk (Free to view tv stations) is this what it means? TV on the M8? Or does it mean digital radio, or something esle altogether?

Actually i have no idea what DVB-T is. Is it like recieving tv-stations without paying for them? Subscription? Wondering what kind of free channels there would be -> rofl streaming porn on your m8 :D

DVB-T is a receiver for digital TV.You can only receive free programs with it.^^

Correct!

DVB-T: Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial
DVB-S: Satellite
DVB-C: Cable
DVB-H: mobile TV

This is a standard for the broadcast transmission of digital terrestrial television in Europe.

It´s not a receiver, sorry...

i certainly hope it will have dvb-t, since i like to watch television over dvb-t a lot, all i hope is that there will be a recording option, so i can record my favourite tv show on the road, without needing my portable computer...
and it will probably need to have a good antenna built in, becouse dvb-t requires a pretty good reception to work properly.
Processor power should not be a problem since it works on my very old computer (600 Mhz)

DVB-T is a popular digital television standard adopted by many european countires including germany, the uk and italy I believe. Perhaps even france too. I am in the Uk and was greatly looking forward to the additional DVB-T module which is said will be available for the m8. However. I own a portable DVB-T tv already and I cannot get any reception at all. I found out that the digital signal within the Uk is currently not very strong unless you are in certain areas of the country where they have already switched over fully to digital and actually turned off the old analogue signal all together.

By 2012 the whole county will go digital and only then will these types of portable recievers work properly all over the country. I am from london and within 10 miles of a digital braodcasting mast yet I still have to use signal boosters on my home tv's (connected to the roof aerial) just to get all the free to air DVB-T channels. London and the surrounding areas will be one of the last to switch over fully to digital in 2012. I think in other european countries it already works much better and it is possible to use portable DVB-T devices. More info about uk digital tv is available here:

like i said above, there has to be a pretty strong antenna to receive a decent signal,
i have the same problem at my home, i only receive a signal at a very specific location in my room, so i had to move my antenna, and place it in a very specific direction for it to work decently.
i hope the m8 will have a very good antenna, but i noticed a larger antenna can make reception worse, since dvb-t does not work when anything at all is received that distorts your signal, so a too strong antenna might also be a problem for a lot of people.
in analog signal you only see a little noise(snow) but in digital you see nothing at all whatsoever, so the image just stops (and you hear nothing)...

i think noone knows 100% certain at least until cebit has started, but as far as i see on this forum it looks pretty certain, i certainly hope it will !!

It's on the motherboard but its yet to be seen how well this will work

DVB-T and DMB are said to be available but only with an additional dongle or some kind of attachment. Dont know if any one remembers but the info came to light after a photo from a meizu conference which showed a DMB logo and was featured in the news section a while back >>>>>>
