My meizu M8 thoughts

I thought i'd register on this site since i found out some stuff about meizu. They might perfectly be already known, then see this thread as a thread where you can post ur meizu m8 finds.

I started with looking closely to the patent meizu put on its design.


that's this thing right.. that's an image released under official circumstances and no doubt to be real and official. Now let's look again at a picture that would be one of the "old meizu m8 pics":



Now watch closely. This picture is about 6 months old, tho it ressembles the patent picture 100%, including the three buttons.

You might as well have heard about x, stating the meizu they'd offer will have 3G and even 3.5G support. Well on the pic and the patent pic you can easily see the frontal camera.

which is also stating to be handing out meizu m8's from march 3rd.

It's also official that meizu will show off the meizu m8 at cebit. So when is cebit? A quick google find tells me it's march 4-9.

What if meizu is indeed planning a decent release, starting to sell their phone just in front of an event where they can show off the device and tell people it is available right then?

I think we shouldn't be too negative, it's not that Wong isn't saying anything that it means nothing's happening. They've been working on the device for over a year now.. Don't be surprised if it suddenly was available 3rd of march and showed off in all its bells and whistles the days after..

no offence but this all sounds like complete rubbish to me. A number of other official product renderings have been released by Meizu CEO Jack Wong himself since that photo was released. Also the patent in my opinion is just an old patent application that has only recently been made available to the public, It has been reported that Meizu has filed a number of other patents since then. Also many people have directly e-mailed Meizu about an M8 release date and they have all recieved the same response......Q3 2008. This means at the very earliest we will be seeing the M8 in July. Why would Meizu tell all these people Q3 if they were suddenly going to release it in march? People on this forum have also been told in e-mails direct from Meizu that a prototype M8 will be shown at Cebit in March. I appreciate your optimism but you have to look at the facts and be realistic.

I wouldn't doubt the possibility of them being available right away. Remember when Jack Wong said he ordered $1 million worth of LCD's? It's probably not likely, but it is possible.

If they were even thinking about releasing it right now why would they not say anything. From what i can see it doesn't make sense. People are going for the iPhone now because they don't want to wait any longer for the M8, if they said they could release it now people would wait.

I emailed them like a week or two ago and ella replied saying that it will be shown in CeBIT but wouldnt be purchasable from CeBIT

what i'm doing is just searching the net and making speculations
why wouldn't it be possible wong wants to make an apple-like sudden release. I think the thought of suddenly make it purchasable and shown off at cebit would be great

oh and, i actually believe that picture of the meizu is real. (the reflection of the glass and surroundings are way too perfect to not be real glass and aluminium)

Yeah the picture is real because it was officially released by Meizu about 6 months ago or so. But the design has changed since then.

Trust me, ain't gonna happen. That information you have in the first post is older than 6 months (= inaccurate) and they already said it would just be a first prototype.

I even doubt a Q2 release right now, it wouldn't make any sense it being too soon. Just hope they're putting 3G in now that it's probably Q3 as release.
