    M8 Release date (speculation!!)

    Hi folks...

Ive just been reading the Chinese Meizu BBS and i found a thread - started today (24th Jan'08) that suggests that the M8 wont be released until the end of July/Early August..

..This information (apparently) from an executive for Meizu themselves.

Im not sure how reliable this information is, so it could just be a rumour ( so dont shoot the messenger )

heres a (reasonably poor) English translation of the post in question....

Because a friend at MEIZU headquarters of the market, he revealed M8 will be the first listing by the end of July early August. May also be in the August 8, as the headquarters of several veterans MEIZU have a letter geomancy, I asked why not May and June listing?, friends said M8 global market planning not to get so fast,

MEIZU faithful, I can tell you that this news is 100%, MEIZU executives to chat when I talked about, and if MEIZU really be listed in May, I am willing to never (return) to this forum.

Those who gamble and I MEI currency sent me a short message, I bet 200 MEI currency, it was said that my MEI less than 100 coins, it is because I am the currency in banks. To gambling on the application.

I state once again that I am not MEIZU executives, but today, the news summary for reliable, when I know that I am also very surprised to information has been determined, ready to buy fruit (im thinking apple) phone tomorrow, tomorrow will release plans let everyone know that my determination

For anyone who wants to read the actual thread it can be viewed Here

Personally - i STILL think that late April/early May is more likely (fingers crossed)

    regards

    Russ

    Sources and working URLs?

CeBIT starts on March 4th and MEIZU said they will present the M8 to the world right there... Doesn't sound very legit to me.

I'm guessing that Meizu wants to release their product during the start of the summer Olympic.

Rofl, end of July or the beginning of August -> almost en entire year of delay to release

If this is true Engadget is going to laugh their ass off to all the people that are waiting for this like a bunch of cows from January last year. By then we'll have passed the 1,5 year mark, huge rofl. Duke Nukem Forever to the win.

Personally I think it's fake but I don't know anything about the person who said it, so...

Saw this too... might just be someone looking for attention (too many of these nowadays, not only Chinese). The original poster hasn't shown any evidence.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

I say wait for CeBIT for official news.

infact several people who replied to the original chinese thread said the same "released in march" (or words to that effect) - i personally think it will be nearer April/May - but who knows...

    ....The countdown to CeBIT continues

    Exclamation Expected release date!

    Hey folks!
Frustrated about all the speculations around here I sent an email to MEIZU regarding the release date of the Mini One and thats what I've got:
    Dear Sir,

Thanks for your email and attention on Meizu.

MEIZU Technology Co., Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of high-end flash MP4 players in China, specializing in the research, development, manufacture and marketing since 2003. Our products are selling in Asia, Europe, America, Oceania, etc. and enjoy high reputation.

Mini One (M8) mobile phone is under development now and expected to be released around the third quarter of 2008. Pls keep attention on our progress.
We are looking forward to see you at the upcoming CeBIT.
    Sincerely,
    Ella Wong

Since I'm living in Hannover I am certainly going to meet Miss Wong at CeBIT. Waiting till the 3rd quarter of 2008 is a long time - maybe she's got a special prototype for me ;p

    Regards!
    Paul

3rd quarter!!!!!! that is terrible news. I've always said it would be around july but was hoping it would be sooner. If they actually put that in an e-mail then that pretty much confirms it though. That is really bad news. By Q3 there probably will be a number of phones that will be at least equally and probably better speced with better firmware, real shame. The only advantages may be the price and the codec support, however companies like Lg and nokia have started to supprt divx and other popular formats. I'm sure by Q3 we will be seeing 16gb handsets with large screens and better battery than the M8 from most of the big manafacturers. I don't think the M8 will be out dated by then at all but there will be far more very strong competition particularly from companies selling handsets which support 3rd party software, very poor marketing strategy from Meizu, dissapointing.

    ..I'm sorry for such news!
Since my mobile contract ends in May I was also really hoping to get a MiniOne for summer - you know music, movies, emails under the sun - but now ..

Maybe they'll hurry it up but the mail sounded more like MEIZU presenting the ultimate christmas gift 2008 ..
